Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

PS:

Just wondering, who the heck is still using these besides us, and then I read the whole link.

Guess who....the Amish. I'm sure there are others, but when you read the ad, they make it sound as if everybody's still using rinse tubs. Again, how fun: rinsers for the 4th.

And in the spirit of the 4th, I'm realizing that there are probably many poor people in the USA who do not have washing machines, and I wish I could give them one.

I'm sure you feel the same way.

I grew u with the Maytag EL2 and we had the double tub plus a single tub. Mother always rinsed 3 times and the last would be with bluing. Our utility romm was built with a floor drain that the washer and the tubs could be drained into or if mother wanted could attach a hose to and run out the back door to water flower beds there. The water in was a y-hose that was attached to the two faucets and then a longer rubber hose to fill the washer and tubs.

Since lived on a farm mother always filled the single tub first that was right behid the washer and then filled the washer with hot water. Everything starting with the whites were put in the tub and swished around then wrung out through the wringer right into the washer. While the first load was washing she then took load by load of clothes and pre rinsed in the tub and then wrung out and placed in a basket.
When that was done she drained and rinsed out the tub and refilled it with clea water and also the other two tubs. They formed an L around the washer. The single tub was mostly used 2 times to rinse then drained for fresh water. Our tubs were white and on the legs were the Maytag decals. The drain hoses were with the male end so you could exten them with a garden hose.
