This is my dream set...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Keep your eye out.  They turn up from time to time.  Don't be too afraid to get them separately.  There was a dryer up on this very forum within the last few months.

The washer's a TA700 and I think the dryer is likely a TDE701. I have a similar set in yellow (which I prefer), but my dryer is gas. The one in the video may be as well, but I never could get even a glimpse of a service door down on the lower right, so I doubt it. I believe both of these machines would date to the early 1960's, but if I'm wrong I'm sure someone here will correct me.

I'M WITH YOU ON THAT STEPANIE....

My Dream set is a late 50's, early 60's set of
these maytags in Turquoise, but I'd take pale
yellow, as a second.

I do have a matched pair that were bought together.
Sept. 1961 A700S Washer & a DE700 Dryer. They are
white, but I figured better to have a pair that
came togther, than none at all. So I'll live
with the white......but I can still dream / LOL.

That style was made from 1958 to 1965

Though for parts purposes, I prefer the 1961 to 1965 700/702 series. Mine were from separate states. Ted had my A702 in Maryland. I took it to my friend Dave's for a transmission seal (still in progress) and found the matching de702 dryer in Ohio. [this post was last edited: 5/20/2014-20:45]

Actually

turquoise is my second favorite color. My absolute favorite color is pink. I would love to have that maytag set, as well as my kitchen appliances, in pink. But that being said, I would be thrilled with any of the pastels. My thankfulness for them would overpower color preference and I would love them no matter what. :)

You mean something like the pair on the left?

Turquoise Time

Kevin, yeah, it leaves a nice little puddle of grease on the floor and the timer could stand some work. When I bought it, the previous owner was trying to use it as a daily driver and had no clue about anything mechanical. I've got the matching dryer which should be an easy fix up. Just need to find the time! -Cory

OK.....We're All Being Tortured.......LOL

Kevin,

That Yellow Pair is Awesome. I wish my 700's
were Turquoise or Yellow. But, as Stephanie
alluded to, having them, no matter what color,
is still a great feeling.

EVEN though mine are White, I am very glad
I got them:)

Thanks for sharing Your Pics.....You Too Cory.
Awesome machine, as well.

Not to pile on or anything...

I guess I shouldn't mention the Set I have waiting to be restored and loved. Just haven't had the time with all the events life throws at me. Wow, Steph, we just gotta get you a pair!

Oh Drew,

That was just so mean!! Go ahead, rub salt in that wound! Sniff, sniff... :-) Louis, why don't you paint your set? I am a person that usually likes to keep things stock, but if you really want a different color I say go for it.

IT DEF IS HARD TO CHOOSE....

Hey Stepanie,

I've been thinking about painting them, when they
are up and running. They have been in storage
since I bought them last year, as I am in the process
of getting a house.

The body should be easy to paint, but the I'd need
advice about painting the porcelain tops. I guess
some sort of Etching Agent must be used first, but
I have never attempted.

Any Tips or Suggestions Anyone? They would be Turquoise or Yellow.

Drew -- Awesome pair of turquoise -- but you do know
how to needle.... LOL.

Travis that's a great offer, and very generous, regarding
the Pink Pair for Stephanie......I think they may have her
name written on them:)

Wishing Everyone the MaytagS of Their Dreams.

@ Tennblondie78 it seems you have won!!

Now don't forget to video you jumping up and down and waving your arms about... :o)

@ Travis you Sir have restored my faith in human kindness !!

Now can someone explain to me how far apart these dream machines and their new owner are?

Austin

Holy Cow, Travis! Thank you!!! :)

I have never met a better bunch of people than the ones on AW!! Pics, pics, pics!!! I would love, love, love the washer, but I have to have an electric dryer. I don't have access to gas. Are you willing to split the pair up?

@Ozzie: I am about 5 hours from St. Louis.

I have replied privately.

Just to be clear, these are unrestored and a bit rougher. I have a turquoise pair also. If I go to all the work to restore a set, the turquoise set will win!

I will take some pictures on Sunday. I have no problem in splitting the pair if I can find a taker for the dryer. I don't want the lonely dryer weeping its mate in my garage. If that happens, it will end up being scrapped.

If anyone is looking for a Pink gas Maytag please let me know.

Thanks Travis

Maybe it's time for a midwest wash-in later this year...Lots of MN, IA, NE, MO members with lots of donor machines are all within a few hours of each other... Seems the colored 'tags pop up in IL pretty regularly. Hmmm....

@tennblondie78..

5 hours is that doable?

I was going to ask if the dryer could be converted it seems it is then??

have never done such a thing here as we have hardly any gas dryers unless you go for the big guns in the laundry.

Well good luck anyways with getting and restoring the set from Travis am sure others on here will know all about getting them fixed :o)

Austin..
