I’m not even sure how I ended up on this, but I found a circa 2005 Maytag Dishwasher Brochure. I’d never heard of American dishwashers having third racks prior to the late 2010s, and never heard of ANY dishwasher having a rack setup like this!
That crazy setup immediately made me thing of the current top-end rack setup WP is using in all their brands. Surely this inspired it, especially since Maytag is a subsidiary and any patents they filed on this unique setup would be owned by them.
This also is the only dishwasher I’ve ever seen with 4 distinct wash arms as well. I don’t know anything about the quality at the end of Maytag’s run as an independent company, but I have to imagine these cleaned well.
Some model numbers for reference: mdb9601aw, mdb9750aw, MDB8600AW
