Has any one ever used one here
Haven't used one, but when I was researching how to remove the agitator on my Maytag 606, I ran across this kind of product. I *think* it's an inflatable device that you slide around the bottom of the agitator, and then inflate it to lift the agitator from the bottom.
If so, I do not think it would work with blue Maytag agitators, as the bottom of these is flexible and might not take the force. (I was told here the best thing to do would be to fill the tub with very hot water to soften the o-ring that holds the agitator in place, but never got around to that).

I also thought you cannot use the agitamer with bakelite agitators-since bakelite is very stiff-no "give"if the agitator is jammed or stuck onto the shaft it will shatter.The newer polypropelyene agitators are more "flexible"and will give instead of break.One of the appliance parts stores here used to sell Agitamers.would be nice to have.I would think any washer fan would like to have an Agitamer in his tool kit.I would think appliance techs would like to have one as well.

I've had an Agi-Tamer for a while (and bid on this one for another member), and it is quite effective. My only gripe is the mess it makes when you use the water hose, so I simply cut the hose fitting off and made it air-powered. Even with a small diaphragm compressor connected to it, it can lift me up off the ground!
We've got an AgiTamer,neat tool.Works very well on most agitators,haven't tried it on bakelite.

Westy, is the pump similar to a fish tank pump? Thought I may get some insight on maybe building me one. I have a homemade tool that I built to remove older GE agitators but it works on a completetly different principle than the agitamer. Can't tell you about it, it's "Men in Black" kind of stuff ya know?
This tool been available since the 80's. Great tool to get the old GE agitator out....
