Back in 2002 Los Angeles, CA based company "Appliances International" purchased the Thor brand name. Back then they slapped it on combo washer/dryers that IIRC were also sold under name Quietline among others.

Basically you have a company that purchases inventory from around the world an assembles them into appliances, then distributes.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
I believe they did the same to

Our own brands like Servis and Hoover etc

Don't know if they will make it your side the pond but we have a new manufacturer of washing machines and its Ebac the dehumidifier company not seen one in the flesh yet but apparently good build quality....

Thor was a brandname used here in Ireland in the 1970s and 80s. I'm not sure who owned it.
I remember we had a Thor 850 XD washer-dryer, which was sold as Colston in the UK, but was manufactured by a company in Italy called Riber.

We also had a Thor extractor that lasted way into the 1990s and was probably from about 1972. Again, I assume it was made by someone else and rebadged.

Here's a TV advert from the 70s.

Could any of the UK or other European posters on here possibly identify some of the appliances in that advert? They're definitely all rebadges of various brands:

Guess people snap up these dead appliance brand names

Like Thor because many of the others are owned/part of Whirlpool, Electrolux and a few other multi-national appliance conglomerates.

Maytag alone owned:

Admiral
Amana
Caloric
Dynasty
Gaffers & Sattler
Glenwood
Hardwick
Holiday
Inglis
Jade
Jenn-Air
Litton
Magic Chef
Menu Master
Modern Maid
Norge
Sunray

Now of course Whirlpool owns Maytag

The washers in that Irish 1970s Thor advert seem to be made by Ariston in the later half of the 1970s. I remember they had 'pull to start' knobs.
