The kids were driving me nuts today, so I hit the thrift shops after work. I didn't buy any of the following, but had to share the pics... But first a quick stop off at the post office (found this vintage 1964 sign there)

Packard-Bell Color TV Console... Any quess the year? They want $40 for it, and they've had it for a while. The tv doesn't work at all, and both the radio and record player need some work too. I'd love to own it if I could find the room (and of course talk them down on the price!), but do I really need another project?

Will, I remember when Zip Codes came into use back when I was a little kid. There were TV and radio commercials as well as print ads encouraging people to use them.

I also recall a lot of adults grumbling about it, swearing they would never be bothered to look up a Zip Code.

The Zip Code is practically more important than the actual address, nowadays!

Love that jukebox.

Lucky bastard!!

I wish thrift shops around here carried items like that. On the rare occasion that they do, they want HUGE $$ for it/them.

I hate you....... :>)

My favorite one (which the Hotpoint, GE, jukebox and freezer are/were), is in an old Buick Dealership from the 50s/60s in an iffy neighborhood. Most of it (showroom and shop) is floor space. It's huge! Picture combining a normal thrift shop, restore, junk shop, and some of our collections and multiply it by two. If anyone ever makes it out to hampton, I'll take them there.

They had a early 60's Maytag dryer for a long time, but I didn't have the house at the time and has since sold. Other previous items seen there, more vintage stoves/fridges, several record player consoles, church pews, that Northern Electric Phone that I posted months back, my 50's sofa painting, toilets, doors, etc.

Didja see a red West Bend electric Wok in there.. they live at all thrift stores. LOL
Shame about the tv console, can you just imagine the delight when someone brought that home new.
