We have a Maytag washer model GA608 that thumps during the spin cycle. At first I just thought it was an unbalanced load, but it isn't. What could this be? Any suggestions?

Could you define thumping? Does it start slowly and increase in frequency as the speed picks up? Does pressing down on any corner of the cabinet help lessen the noise? Are you sure the front panel is tightly screwed on at the bottom front corners? Have you recently moved the washer? Does the sound stop as soon as the motor is de-energized or does the thumping coast to a stop? We need more detail. As the doctor said, "Constipation and cancer sound the same over the phone."

Hmmmmm...

It didn't happen to sound something like this did it?

This is a video I took of my old Maytag, I eventually threw it away because of this problem. Turned out to be one of the three tub support struts. The hole for the screw that held the strut onto the tub had rusted out and the strut came loose and banged around on a slightly off balance load during the spin cycle. The only way to fix it would have required removing the inner tub and it was so corroded there was no chance I could do that...
