Bought some Tide HE detergent from the American Shop online and found it quite good. Anyone else tried it? I have the original scent, 3 rinses in my Bosch and only a hint of fragrance when dry. Rinses well and low sudsing if you fill to line 1 or if items not that soiled.

It's quite likely to be very similar to Ariel.
I just wish they'd tone down Ariel's scent! The colour powder is nice but the regular powder is very very heavily perfumed.

It's a very strange hard to define synthetic pine and citrus type scent too.
Old Ariel just smelled clean!

Tide online

Hello Liberator de luxe

I would be interested in making some purchases from this store, would you be kind enough to post a link to it please?

Thank you

Nick

Tide HE

Hello Nick,

I don't know how to post the link but the web address is www.usafoodstore.co.uk Hope that helps? I bought the Tide HE 'Original Scent' liquid but i think its out of stock now but there are others available.

Ben

I have to agree, Ariel has a dreadful stench to it... when I think back years ago, it smelt so fresh, as did Daz...now both smell the same -dreadful.So I shall stick with Persil..although not as nice as from the old days, its acceptable. Oh and it cleans just as well!

Thanks Ben. As you say, the original Tide is currently out of stock but I'll keep checking back. I live near London and am half tempted to pay the store a visit next time I'm there, as it's in a lovely part of town (though I'm not quite in the correct tax bracket to frequent regularly) ;-)

I'll probably give the Downy April Fresh a miss. Given that it smells nothing like the original Downy (which I really liked, had a v similar scent to UK `yellow' Bold Summer Fresh if anyone remembers), the descriptions of current Downy as `bubble gum' isn't really selling it to me (eek)

Purchased the HE Original Liquid back in March, good cleaning performance, wasn't too keen on the fragrance,

I've gone off P&G detergents a bit. Since Persil introduced new packaging I've been using that & Comfort for a couple of months now.

I thought you lived in Chelmsford? Have you still got any older machines? I have to say i prefer the smell of tide to Ariel doesn't linger on the clothes so i assume they don't put loads of pthalates in the fragrance. Daz fragrance doesn't smell either after line dryed. I find for me the cheaper detergents better as highly perfumed synthetic fragrances cause migraines. I don't get that with natures own chemical fragrances!
