Hello to everyone!

I apologize in advance if this topic has been beated ad nauseum already!

I joined this discussion board in hopes that *someone* could help me out. As I'm sure many of you know, P&G discontinued this line in 2009. Well, I bought as many bottle of the Lavender & Vanilla scent at a Lowes near my home in Atlanta, GA, but eventually, my stock dried up.

The remaining few bottles that can still be found are selling on ebay/Amazon for approx $30 each, (and this is for the small, 25 loads size, that retailed for approx $7.99).

I've tried every dollar store in the Atlanta area, along with hardware stores, drug stores, mom and pops that don't turn over their stock very often. Anyone out there have any other suggestions?

Is that the variant that was in the purple bottle?

I know Lowe's around here had the water lily scent, which I really like. I have a 48 load bottle in the 1x formula, and a 2x bottle also. I haven't seen any of these in about a year. But, if you have an SKU code from an old bottle or box, someone at Lowe's may be able to tell you if any stores have them in stock.

Have you tried Big Lots?

Also, have you called P&G? They may be able to tell you where the last stock went, and suggest a retailer to call.

Yep, the purple bottle is correct. I'll put a link below to the ebay seller who has some.

I did call P&G, the customer service rep just suggested checking out wholesalers, which I've tried a few. I will call Big Lots, as well, that's a good idea.

I've called Lowes and all the one anywhere around the central/north Georgia - gone.

I'm absolutely mystified at where the few remaining sellers found some. A very nice lady in Jacksonville, FL, (who I found through our Facebook fan page), sold me two recently for $30.00, (plus shipping). The seller on ebay is in Brooklyn, NY.

 
I found that seller on ebay a few minutes ago. I started to do some calculating...If you look at the items sold (the seller has sold many other lots of that detergent), it looks like many sold for $120.00, or $20 per bottle. You and many others must really want this stuff!

At $160 per box of six, that's $26.60 per bottle. If you want it badly enough, you may want to offer $120 for the 6 boxes like some of the others sold for before, and see what you get. There is a best offer button. There are apparently 3 boxes of 6 left.

If that is too pricey for you, have you tried some other Lavender detergents? Gain has one, and I think a couple other brands do too. It may be time to find something else that you can tolerate. Looks like you may have to do that anyway sooner or later.

You might want to google this. It may show up with other sellers eventually.

I just googled "Lowes North Carolina". I found the store you're talking about, and they have some of the Water Lily online for purchase. I'll buy it!

I meant Lowe's hardware. They were one of the last retailers to have any left for sale, around the country.

RE: the ebay seller - those that sold for $120 are actually bundles of three. She agreed to break up the sets of six for some folks. I bargained w/him (or her), and she did offer to sell me three for $89.99, but I think the shipping would have still been $26.99, so I didn't accept the offer (yet).

I didn't realize Lowes Food To Go only delivers locally. I called their main office to see if they could ship me some bottles of the Water Lily & Jasmine, if I pay shipping fees. They're looking into it and said they'd call me back.

That one was actually my second favorite scent, after the Vanilla & Lavender formula, so I'm very excited. :)
 
I liked the Lavender and Vanilla too...

...used to use it in my wringer washed stuff that was line dried....the fresh and and that scent in combination was lovely.

Well, I called the Lowes Food To Go stores, and while it *does* appear from their websites that they still had some of the Simple Pleasures product still on their shelves, in reality, the website just hasn't been updated to show it's all gone.

So disappointed!

I honestly have no clue how the seller in Florida found the bottles of Vanilla & Lavender that she sold me recently. She was very nice, but very secretive about where they came from. I'm starting to think that she broke into a Proctor and Gamble warehouse or something, lol.

I guess that's it, if my two little remaining bottles run out, I will have to either forget about it, or buy from the ridiculously overpriced bottles on Amazon and Ebay.
 
I am sorry Lowe's doesn't have those.

I noticed last night on the ebay bottles that an offer was pending for the 3 boxes of 6 the seller has left. If you didn't place that offer, you may want to either grab some at asking price (that will debunk the offer) or do the Amazon thing.

Like I said yesterday, you may want to try some of the other Lavender scents that are out there. I know Gain has one, and I think Tide does too - at least in powder. Maybe Tide's is similar? If you can't find those in a store, try the PGE store website - they are usually all-inclusive of P&G's current products.

If I ever see any of this, I'll let you know!

Thank you, yes, if you do see some, please let me know, even if it's either the Water Lily and Jasmine or Rose scent Simple Pleasures.

I have tried every other Lavender scented product out there - I tried Gain, I tried the new Lavender Serenity Tide, I even tried the cheapo dollar store detergents that have a Lavender & Vanilla scent product. None of them even come close. The Proctor & Gamble customer service reps recommended to all of us who asked, that Tide Lavender Serenity is similar, but we all agree that is incorrect.

For whatever reason, Lavender Serenity has a chemical smell to it, whereas the Vanilla Lavender Simple Pleasures does now, and the perfume also clings much longer to sheets, towels, etc.

When I used it, my friend and neighbors always asked me, "What do you wash your stuff with? Your clothes always smell so nice?". And overnight guests always commented on how nice my sheets smell.

I think you're right, I will have to just bite the bullet and make another offer on ebay. I offered to purchase a half pack from the Amazon seller, (which is $97.50), but they replied back to my email and said they don't know how to do it on Amazon. At least the ebay seller was willing to split it, so I will just go back to them.

When you want something, you try everything to find it, its nowhere to be found, but in your head you know there must be some somewhere.... That's when I get obsessed. It's not good, lol.

Good luck with the ebay detergent. But, that said, can I make a suggestion or two on something different? For the price of the ebay Tide, you'll be paying more than $1 per load to get that scent. Fortunately for liquid detergent, old stuff doesn't seem to loose its scent as fast as powder, but it doesn't last forever either. The 2x formulations were made in 2008 and later. I found some Tide on the sheft at a CVS a while back that was made in 2006 - its scent had drifted into cheap kid's perfume smelling grossness.

Instead of paying a massive ransom for what is probably aging detergent, how about something different? One scent I really liked recently was "Fresh Awakenings" Gain. It's very pleasant in sheets and towels. It's not Lavender, but I think you'd get some of the same reactions to it as you describe above, at about 20% the cost or less (when on sale) as you're going to pay for the Tide.

I know what you mean about the scent degenerating, or becoming destroyed.

That's why I'm so mystified about the two small bottles I *did* purchase from the nice person I found on our Facebook page.

I sniffed the bottles when I received them in the mail last week, half expecting them to reek, or not smell new, but they smelled as if they had been just made! The *soonest* they could have been produced is early 2009. How can this be? So odd...
 
I think the scent can last for several years, especially when sealed in plastic. With powder it depends on conditions, dryness of air around the box, heat, etc.

You can check the production code on the bottle cap and tell exactly what day the detergent was made. For example, if the code says 911217 on the top number, it was made in 2009, 112th day. The 17 is not related to dates. That stuff would probably be fine for a while yet, just VERY expensive.
