I know that there is an HE version shown on the website for this Tide now, but I have yet to see it on the shelf. Has anyone tried the Non-He version in their FL'r ? I thought I saw an earlier posting on this when the name changed from Tide with Bleach saying it was low sudsing without the HE symbol on the box?

I've purchased two boxes of Tide Vivid HE; one from Wal-Mart and one from Sam's Club (like a Costco's for those who aren't familiar). Haven't cracked either one open, as I'm still finishing a box of Tide With Bleach HE.

I am highly skeptical that any Tide product will be truly low-sudsing---unless P&G has experienced a come-to-Jesus moment, LOL.

@frigilux

Amen to that Frigilux !!!
I don't know why P&G won't, they do have a large part of the market, maybe I just answered our own curosity.
So your Tide with Bleach HE is not very low sudsing either, do you have to be careful with usage because of a fine line with over dosing?

I've tried the He version. It cleans well, it rinses better than other Tide powders but it doesn't rinse well enough for me. What does seem to rinse well is Tide Total care liquid.

Because of this failure to rinse when I had a heavy soiled load I could not use more of the product, thus a few stains remained. The other thing I noticed was that my items came out feeling hard and rough even though FS was used in the last rinse.

So... I gave it a try, but a NOGO for me.

@Jerrod

I noticed Tide HE powder doesn't rinse like it use to after it was concentrated and found the same problem with the clothes when removing from the machine.

Yes for me everything feels rough after drying. Since the whites I wear are underwear that roughness is something I don't appreciate and using a larger dosage to clean heavy soil made the problem worse.

I keep trying new versions of Tide when they are released but so far not too pleased. On the other hand like I said the Total care and also the Tide Free liquids seem to rinse much better...but no oxygen bleach in these and I am not spending extra money to buy Tide boost.

Hard and rough items

I vaguely noticed this too. I'd been using Tide w/Bleach He for 18 months. Couldn't find it in powder any longer and now the Vivid He version isn't available either. I started using Gain He and Oxyclean. I still had some of the Tide left. I used it last time I did whites and also noticed a difference in fabric texture compared to what I had becomed accustomed to with the Gain.

All of my Tide HE powder is more than 3 years old so it must be from before the change was made. It rinses just fine for me when used with STPP. If sudsing is a problem and you need more cleaning power, you could mix it half and half with Persil powder. Persil kills sudsing which is why I use it for towels.

Honestly, I've always thought the "Ultra" (less filler) Tide with Bleach (Now Vivid White) was very low sudsing, even though the box I was, and continue using was designed for non-he washers.

All I do, is use Line 1 on the Scoop, and I notice a little bit of sudsing at the beginning of the wash, but it dies off quickly.

I do think personally it rinses out well.. but, then again, that's just my opinion. I'm on soft water, and the box says "53 Loads as measured to Line 2" and since I'm using 1, I guess maybe that might be why it's low sudsing for me, but.. Idk.

Tide Cold Water on the other hand... Suds City :P

I wanted to add.. I've noticed, that Tide (Non-HE) & (HE) Powder doesn't leave your clothes smelling like mildew if you accidently forget about taking them out of the Washer..

Tide Liquid.. Horrible Stench :(

Maybe I'll try it too, should you see a duet float by on a foam cloud, it came from north of the border, just let it keep going, I'll handle the loss :)
PS; It is dark grey in color.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post links to other forums, but over on the Gardenweb, multiple people use Tide with Bleach (Now Vivid White) non-he in there Front Loaders..

I've been using it for a while myself (soft water here) and alternating with Ariel. Honestly, I really, like it a lot. It cleans well, and after the 3rd Rinse, the smell is very light & pleasant.

and after the 3rd Rinse, the smell is very light & pleasant.

That may be part of what my problem was, I only have two rinses on my duet, the first one does not use as much water as the second, I had the machine checked, the tech said it was filling the way it should.

Loads that have had fabric softener added to the rinse will not foam as much the next time they are washed because the softener keeps the suds down. That might be how some people are having success with non-HE detergents in HE washers.

For me there is not an overabundance of suds in the wash, no foam is going to run out of the machine. I do notice that the composition of the suds is different than when using Persil or Miele for whites. What I mean is the Tide suds seem to be like foam vs the suds produced by Persil or Miele which produce a more compact sud. Sounds nutty but thats the way it looks to me.

You can see the difference when the wash water is drained into the sink. With Persil or Miele the water is often very milky with small suds. With Tide the water is less milky but with larger suds floating in it. I can also see the difference during the tumble pause when the water is still and the suds float to the top.

The problem is that these large Tide suds never seem to reduce or dissipate after the 2 or 3 rinses are completed. When I don't use FS I still see the same amount of suds in the 3rd rinse as there were in the 2nd rinse. I was going to let that pass until I noticed the roughness in the clothes even using FS.

When using Tide Total Care there are suds in the wash, but even at the beginning of the first rinse, there are clear water droplets all over the glass as if FS or silicone has been released. These droplets are never present during the wash, but with the first rinse the water is starting to look clear, but of course no bleaching action in product just optical brighteners.

Purchased

I was wandering through the detergent aisle this morning at the local Publix.  I noticed that sadly, Cheer, has been reduced to a single bottle front on the shelf.  Wondering if it will disappear altogether.  I did spot a box of Tide Vivid powder.  Sadly, no HE symbol on the front had me bypass it for another product.  Then, I went back to it and picked it up.  Surprise!  The HE symbol is on the side of the box and not the front.  So I bought it.  Will provide feedback after I have used it.  I have a 1/3rd of a box of Miele powder to get through first.
