Tide Vivid Powder

I'm back from Mankato, laden with detergent! It was obvious that Sam's Club wouldn't be restocking (deep breath to get through this whole name) Powdered Tide Ultra Plus Bleach Vivid Bright + White HE, as there were only about 10 boxes left. Right next to them was a huge new pallet of Tide Professional, which has been discussed in another thread. It doesn't appear to be HE, so not interested.

After snagging three boxes of (here we go again) Powdered Tide Ultra Plus Bleach Vivid Bright + White HE, I went to Sears and found several versions of their detergent, finally settling on the Stain-Fighting Advanced Formula in the green box.

The version in the orange box was tested by CR, and I figured this one (with extra enzymes) would probably do just as well if not a little better. There is a smallish load of casual shirts/summer shorts/socks tumbling away in the Frigidaire as we speak. Am anxious to see how well it rinses out compared to.....let's just call it Tide HE Vivid.

The Sears detergent has a little round scoop that I recall from Amway's SA8 back in the 1970's. Will test it on a load of very stained kitchen whites later this evening, and post the results in a dedicated thread.

So let's take stock, shall we? Five boxes of Tide blah-blah-blah; 1 box of UK Persil; the remains of a box of SA8; several jugs of various versions of liquid Tide (Coldwater HE; Plus Bleach Alternative HE); and a couple of bottles of Perwoll for black loads. I shouldn't have to go near a detergent aisle for quite some time.

I've been using this Tide for a couple of weeks now and have been very impressed. The cleaning is superb. Though a little more fragrant than I usually like going in, it seems to rinse pretty easily leaving only a slight scent behind.

The Tide Vivid, etc... HE has become my go to detergent. It does have a heavier scent up front, but as Greg points out it rinses well and leaves very little scent behind especially on line dried items. And it really does an amazing job on everything. I have recommended it to several friends who had not tried it before and all have come back to give me very positive comments on how their laundry looks now. Of course I wonder what they were doing before...

I do hope that P&G doesn't get any bright ideas about longer lasting scents or microscopic scent beads that pop when you move releasing more scent on this particular product. That would put me over the edge...

Soap is every where ~

I love soap, and there are so many active threads about it, I can't find them all much less remember who said what in where. LOL

But thanks to Malcolm who found out Lowe's has laundry detergent. Who knew? A regular Loweser, I just never noticed: out of mind, out of sight. I go to Lowe's for "stuff, " not soap. But God do they have soap, with a mobile ladder cart that lets you go up and crawl around the ceiling like that bat/fly/rat Renfield in "Dracula."

They have everything: old stock Tide with Bleach, powder for %5.77, 70 ounces dry; Dreft liquid, for Babies; very rare Bold Intensified powder, smells just like the old stuff, (Yeah, I was sniffing); every kind of Gain and Tide; even a few jugs of Cheer, on and on. The eyes bug right out at the variety. And it's really fun to climb the ladder and work the Monster Jugs of self-dispensing Tide with Downy.

But I realized that the New Tide Frigilux, etc, available at Lowe's, is NOT HE. Moreover the one I have been using is NOT HE, either. So I'm wondering if Tide Frigilux, the non-HE powdered version was tested by Consumer Reports. Just curious.

Soap really is a smorgasbord, and we all buy what we like, but it's nice to know what will clean the worst the best. Regarding equivalent formula powders, I'm wondering if the HE cleans better than regular, and right now I don't have a definitive answer, just a hunch, based on experience, that their performance is the same.

My Local Lowes has Cascade ActionPacs with Phosphates.. I've been grabbing 2 packages every single trip, slowly stocking up.

They also have Complete Pacs & Complete Gel (Bleach Hydroclean Action) phosphate free, so I simply ignore those.

Crazy is as crazy does !!

Tried a small doseage of this from someone who has it for a top loader, about 1.5 tablespoons.There is no HE symbol on the box, like the one Malcolm purchased, so I tried it anyway,and much to my surprise it was as low sudsing as Persil universal powder.It did rinse well too, so for a P&G product with no HE symbol that works this well,one can only surmise how long will it be before it is changed

Returned

I returned my box of Tide this morning and replaced it with a Gain HE box.

Will check for Vivid on my next run to Lowes.
