Spotted some liquid Tide HE at work. They have the Loads of Hope front label, but on the back says "Tide with ActiLift" on the back. I called P&G and they confirmed it. The Actilift formula will only appear in most of the liquid Tide portfolio except Free & Gentle and Total Care. I predict that Actilift will appear in the Tide powders when it gets concentrated later this year.

Man, it seems like Tide comes out with new variations every other month! Wonder how this one will perform. I use liquid Tide With Color Clean Bleach HE as my daily driver.

I also keep a bottle of standard Tide With Color Clean Bleach on hand, although its new formulation was downgraded quite a bit by Consumer Reports in their most recent detergent tests. And I keep a bottle of Tide ColdWater HE on hand, as well.

Dear Procter and Gamble: For all the 40+ variations of Tide you produce, could you make one that rinses clean in the two rinses provided by most current front-loaders?!

I find the suds of all Tide products (even the powders) to be very tenacious in soft water.

After the wash

I like it. Tide HE has always been a favorite of mine, but the new Actilift-fortified Tide works better on stains like BBQ sauce and mud. We now have Tide original HE liquid and Mountain Spring with the Actilift formula at work.

This is what the ones with Actilift look like:

What it Actilift? Tide cold water was already highest rated, so how is this going to improve it? I'm not trying to be smart here, but I had not heard of this.

"Actilift" lifts off dried in stains and is supposed to smooth out fibres to help stop new stains setting in, we have Ariel with Actilift in the UK and I am a huge fan. One thing I have found is you get a lot less pilling of fabrics and a lot of my clothes still look brand new, plus there is no other detergent that cleans as well in my opinion, especially in cool washes.

What it Actilift?

ActiLift has been out in Europe for some time. It not so much about actively lifting stains off fibres but to prevent them from attaching to them in the first place - according to the P&G description on ariel.co.uk and ariel.de.

It contains a new enzyme that basically eats off loose and frayed fibres over the course of several washes so that it creates a smooth textile surface, on which stains have less to attach to.

P&G even has videos on ActiLift on YouTube.

My opinion:

I'm back on Tide. I've used All for years, but I like how the new Tide HE did a good job on dried in food and mud stains. It still has a long way to go on the sudsing issues, but I'm satisfied with the results.

We now have Coldwater HE and Clean Breeze HE with the Actilift formula at work.

New Tide

The new Tide doesn't list Actilift on the front, but on the back, near the top of the back label.

This is what you'd see:
"Tide with Acti-Lift helps remove many dry stains as if they were fresh"

I was just at Target here and picked up a Loads of Hope bottle with Acti-lift. Will see how it does on set in stains. I recently switched from Tide HE to Gain HE and then liquid Gain HE. So now something new to try.

Tide & Gain Powder

The Cincinnati Enquirer article mentioned that the powders will get a "formula upgrade" in February. Which means, come February, we'll get a concentrated Tide powder, possibly with Actilift and concentrated Gain powder with the Perfume Micro-Capsule technology that's in Bold 2in1.

Tried it, Liked It

Tried the new Tide on a santized wash in the Samsung washer. Takes about 3 hours including the silver care feature. I was pleasantly surpised. I have spilled some BBQ sauce on a white tee shirt and it also had some yard grime on it from working outside. The shirt came out spotless. It also did well on my white sheets. My boxer sleeps up in my bed, so even after a day or so I have "dog stains." The Tide got those out.

I didn't realize the bottle I picked up was not HE, but with our hard water not a lot of suds to deal with. In fact it appeared to have less suds than the usual Tide HE I buy.
