Growing up in the '60's I never saw many dryers that were not timed dry. We had a Bendix gas dryer that went to 60 minutes but it broiled the clothes. I have used Auto-Dry on this 40 year old Maytag since I bought it and everything dries fine.

Ken- Drool! If you own that machine I'm envious LOL. That knob looks so pretty and I love the 140 minute dry with complimentary fluff cycle. Comes in handy not just for 120 volts but also drying large, heavy loads on medium or low heat. I feel that dryers get way to hot on high heat.

I prefer to use sensor automatic dry for most loads because it's more accurate than timed dry.

Jerome, what dryer are you using? Is your cycle auto dry (thermostatic detection) or sensor dry (continuity strips) that does the sensing?
