This is kind of funny, so I thought I'd share it.

I'm a fan of vintage toasters and for years we've used a Sunbeam T-9 as our daily driver. Prior to that, it was a Toastmaster twin slot with flutted sides (like a greek column).

So at the swapmeet this morning I come upon one of the regular seller's and he's got a nice old Delta bench top drill press for sale. A big one, about 100lbs, at least. He's asking $60 and he'll throw in a vise for it. I'm interested.

I take a quick glance at what else he's got sitting round and bam, there it is, the mother of all vintage toasters, a Toast-O-Lator Model J!!!! He wants $20, I test it and it works perfectly.

We start negotiating price, and I wind up getting the drill press for $60 and he throws in the toaster for free.

So here it is with a fresh polish and a couple of dings carefully pounded out of the chrome top. The only "repair" it needed was to the friction piece that holds the "light.....dark" setting lever in the position you've selected.

Seriously, what's more fun than watching your toast travel through a toaster and drop out the other side, onto your plate?
