I've never seen those in coin-op's. I remember working on the older rollermatic coin ops. There was a laundramat in Niles Michigan,that had Frigidaires,and Whirlpool,and my dad did their service work.
Wow, two ways of opening the lid! The normal side indentation and a center-mounted plastic handle similar to what Whirlpool BDs had. It's also interesting that the lid opens back instead of to the side.
And all this time I thought only Rollermatic solid-tub coin-ops were produced in the 70's...
Ah, but in a laundromat, they'd probably still try to stuff 18-20 pounds in! More bang for the buck. With the absence of the bulky control panel and the aluminum backsplash, it looks Huge & cheesy!
