Today's POD - Whirlpool

I would love to go back in time, purchase the Imperial Mark II TOL washer and dryer, and carry it back to the present. What a great pair of machines, manufactured when Whirlpool was quality and not the dreck that is produced today.

I so agree totaly and this includes the canadien brand of whirlpool inglis and this includes the color choices of these eras as well from avocado green to harvestgold

Only one model in the lineup is an 18 pounder. The rest of the lot is the standard capacity.

Yeah you would think the TOL would also be the larger 18 pound capacity.

I'm thinking the reason for the large capacity (18lb.) washer not being the TOL model, is that it would be purchased by those with larger families. They many times have less to spend than those with fewer children.

The 18-pound capacity was unique to Kenmore/Whirlpool be it one model.  They were competing with Norge who had such a large wash tub.

18lb / super capacity went more "mainstream" in the line a few years later.  Whirlpool then offered model-siblings in both standard and super capacity.

LDA-5700 = standard
LDA-5800 = super

7700 = standard
7800 = super

8700 = standard
8800 = super

9800 = super

I really liked the darker blue color. For 6 bucks more back then you could get that color. Not bad. I'd spend the money, my parents, not. Getting white.

I wonder what year these were from? I'd guess late 70's? I see they still offered the ultraviolet light on the top two models. I didn't know anyone offered those past the early 60's.
