Robert's crayon box

I don't think any major appliance maker ever offered a lilac or lavender color as part of their regular line, unless it was for a very short period of time. But who knows, I didn't think GE ever made anything in red until someone posted a pic of a late 50's - early 60's range in a bright red.

Interesting, the ad says 5 colors for the price of white. I wonder if this was one of the colors. I've never seen anything like it. Originally thought the colors had shifted after all these years, as old ads sometimes do.

5 FRIGIDAIRE Colors from that era

1 Snowcrest white
2 Mayfair pink
3 Canary yellow
4 Charcoal gray
5 Turquoise

In 1965,there was a list of special colors that you could special order called the FRIGIDAIRE Color Wheel.I don't remember all of them but there were colors like doe skin that was like the current almond just a tad darker.I think John LeFever has a Jet Action set that shade. There was also a darker shade of blue, maybe safire? There was a dealership in Anne arundel County,MD near my uncle's home that had a FRIGIDAIRE Imperial refrigerator in their office area that was that shade of blue.Matador red was another color from that list.Whirlpool also had some nice shades of colors throughout their model years.

Colors

Chuck, was that darker shade called Bermuda Blue? I have a BH&G magazine with the Frigidaire ad showing those colors, but it's at storage. They also had a green that was somewhat darker than Avocado, and it seems like a light green too, as part of the "color wheel" selection. I liked the tan, think it was called "Honey Beige", but it must have been part of the regular color selection, as I'm thinking it was available by '63 or '64. Didn't they introduce Aztec Copper in '59?

Just an ad man indulging himself and pushing the envelope--s

Also, taking liberties with the Pulsator: although the circulator and lint filter are maked on many models, I have not seen the energy ring marked "ENERGY" as was the case in this pic, ever! Any of youze?

But what a glorious color to have--and why not !? Next time one of us repaints, go for it! Bet it will be Rick R. Also, it is lilac season, the fragrance intoxicating and the color every where, yes? Lilac, an all-time favorite of mine.

Lilac

As a kid, a friend's mom had done up their master bedroom completely in lilac ... top to bottom. I swear they had a lilac Princess phone on the nightstand, too, but it must have been custom painted, as I've never seen another one like it.

She would have gone for this lilac Frigidaire set!
