top lifting on GE

How does one release the top on a current WP machine to defeat the interlock

Are you talking GE or Whirlpool?

If it's a WP,then you don't release the top,the whole cabinet comes off.On a GE,you remove the front panel,and you'll see a couple of brackets with screws in them,that hold the top on.
