Glad Someone Else Noticed That TL KA Price Increase

If it didn't sell after being listed for weeks at $80 they raise the price to $200? How does that work? Suppose with delivery (if free)it may make an attractive offer but if someone locally wanted the thing surely they would have purchased it by now at the lower price.

But hey, if the seller wants to drive down to NYC for that price maybe we can do business. *LOL*

GE Mobile Maid

IIRC, yes that is one of the last models before GE pulled the plug on their top loading dishwashers. Want to say 1970's but am sure others will chime in.

Unless the lid opens differently than previous models there are only two cycles instead of three. Perhaps just "normal/daily dishes" and "pots & pans". Or the first with "china/glassware" as the second.

Cannot be sure but think by the time these units rolled out GE had gotten a bit less frugal with water changes. Will have to look at my Hotpoint top loader service manual for the late 1960's. Think "daily/normal" was only pre-wash or rinse, wash, and one rinse instead of prewash/rinse, rinse, wash, rinse, and rinse.

One saving grace if one recalls a member's post is that the cleaning action was slightly better with these machines and they switched to the same "side" motors that GE still uses today for dishwashers. This as opposed to the squirrel cage units of previous models. If the pump system changed as well then it would be easier to find parts for this unit than older versions.

The price is rather attractive and the thing looks in good shape without major rust problems.

Was Actually sitting on the fence about that GE

Contacting the seller to see if some sort of arrangement could be made regarding payment and then getting the thing to NYC. But as mentioned in another thread prices for shipping a vintage dw from closer areas than MA to NYC are coming in at $300 and more. Can only imagine what it would have cost from MA.

Unit was probably from the tail end of GE's top loading DW days and from reading the archives members were on both sides of the fence about such models. Yes, the wash arm, pump and other bits were redesigned which some felt gave better performance. OTOH IIRC the sump was made larger and other changes that made older units such as those from the 1960's a better choice,

To answer one's own query the three buttons indicates "lid open", "Daily/Normal" and "Pots & Pans". No China/Glassware cycle. This probably would have made it a MOL model one presumes. Also didn't see "Mobile Maid" anywhere in the pictures. Just "Compact Dishwasher".

How about this portable in Yonkers?

I'm moving and selling my Kenmore Portable Dishwasher. Condition is good. The dishwasher is fully functional. There are a few prongs on the pull out rack that are bent but does not have a negative impact on the way the dishwasher functions. This dishwasher is being sold by others for $400+ but I am selling for $175 firm. Please email me if interested.
