Last shopping time I bought a box of Woolworths Select Clean powder to give a try and found the results were not too bad for a generic brand.
It is not as good as Omo,Cold Power Radiant etc, but I feel it actually does give a better clean than other mid range detergents.
It comes in an unusual fragrance, this one is called Musk and Patchouli, the other is Sunshine Fresh.(I think.)and has a triple enzyme formula.
Cleaned most tea stains out of a tablecloth although there still are shades of the stains, spilt sauce stains out of a t-shirt,(yes I admit, my t-shirt.)and did leave a nice, light musk fragrance in the wash.

Steve

Did you cold, warm or hot wash?

Was it a medium or full load?

If you were using cold water, it'd be interesting to see how it went on a warm cycle.

Does Unilever...

Make your store brands, there? Here, there partner (Sun Products Inc.) Pretty much makes every store/private label brand. Would be curious to hear the situation, over the pond.

Jovan Musk Men's Colonge

Knew plenty of men back in the day that drenched themselves in that stuff. Apparently was supposed to do "something" for the ladies. The only thing it did for me was make one nauseous. *LOL*

Then the 1970's were the last gasp of the "natural" craze that began in the 1960's. There was shampoo with beer, Yucca plant, balsam, milk, honey and god only knows what else. Then you had all those fragrant shampoos and conditioners like Herbal Essence.

As for perfumes aside from musk, patchouli, there was green apple, honeysuckle, wild grass, newly mowed grass and so forth.

Warm wash and musk

Hi Chris,it was a wash with warm water,I figured cold water would not allow the enzymes to work properly, where as hot water would most likely damage the enzymes, it was a half load, just used 3/4 of a scoop.
Mich, to be honest I don't really know who makes Woolworths and indeed Coles own brand detergents for them, it does not really say on the box. it just says packed for Woolworths.
Laundress, well I guess musk is a bit of an unusual fragrance for a laundry powder, but here in Oz there seems to be a bit of a war on to see who can come up with the most bizarre fragrance.
These Woolworths ones, Fab, Surf all seem to have weird fragrances now.

Last US Woolworths

It was 1997, though there weren't many locations left by then.

The last one I was in was in Atlanta in the early Nineties. It was the only place that had those onion skin airmail envelopes with the red and blue borders. I bought a bunch of them and still have most! I didn't foresee the rise of email!

Musk & Patchouli

What's next "crack and Meth"

I know some would like it but doesn't sound like my cuppa.

I was sniffing the fabric softener isle at Walmart today. Honey and Gardinas. ok well it didn't smell like either, though honey doesn't have that much smell to begin with.

Allen,

My wife's uncle was a loyal Jovan Musk user until the day he died.  He used to put on so much you could literally taste it in your mouth.  YUCK!

To me, Pierre Cardin smelled like Raid. The last time I bought cologne was about 20 or so years ago, and that was a bottle of Cool Water from a Dillard's department store.

My Dad was a religous user of Aramis, English Leather, British Sterling and I think, Old Spice. He also used on a limited basis Hai Karate (oh, the 60's...does anyone remember that?)

My brother was a fanatic over Jovan Musk...so much to the extent that it smelled like he bathed in it. I'm surprised people couldn't smell him coming a mile away. Every time I'd ride with him, I always had to roll down the window because the scent was waaay too much for me to handle.
