My mum recalls 1 egg a week after the war and no chocolate until like 1949 or something.

Great series, I was glued to this every single week. A nice glimpse of social history through the decades, and pretty well researched too. Also worth checking out is Back In Time For The Weekend (linked below), which focuses more on consumer spending habits and living standards throughout the years.

Shows like these are great fun to watch with friends or family members of mixed ages. Everyone, at some point or another, will be pointing excitedly at the screen and yelling "I'd forgotten about that!". A mixture of things we wish we could turn the clock back for, and others that are best left in the past.
