We're going to get a new washer and are having a really hard time choosing between the models. There's plenty of discussion about the differences but less real world experience. We've been debating between the TR5, TC5, and FF7 with an outside chance at a TR7, although we both prefer the knob control look, regardless of the control board behind it. We've been leaning to the TR5. I'd love any experiences people have that would help us decide. We have a toddler and those messes and both have jobs where our clothes don't really get dirty, but I do plenty of DIY stuff and will get oil and grime from cars and yard dirt on stuff. I repair most of our stuff myself unless I get completely stuck, so I want things that will last and I can fix.

The TR5 looks like a good fit. The concern is if it washes well enough. I'm having a hard time telling if the TR would actually clean well enough or if it's fine and that's and overblown internet thing that wouldn't matter in practice. We don't want to buy it and be disappointed that it doesn't clean as well as a 20 year old Roper that's still working.

The TC5 looks great, but the lack of some features like autofill and being unclear about whether we actually need the additional cleaning power or if it would use a lot more water are unknowns.

The FF7 is really hard to decide on. We have a laundry closet with bifold doors and only have 35" of space front to back. With the unit being 28" and needing 2" at the back and almost 2" for the door, I have no idea if we could leave it open enough to not get moldy. I'm also unclear how much better it is at cleaning and how much gentler it is on the clothes. Is it just slightly better or a world apart?

Any input people have is much appreciated. I've read all the relevant threads on here about them and am still having a hard time coming to a conclusion I feel good about.
