Eddie-

It should not. Normal things that drop into a septic tank have lots of phosphate naturally in them. If the septic tank "bugs" are working right, and the tank is pumped on schedule, all should be fine.

Lawrence/Maytagbear

(My Grandparents' place in SW Ohio had a septic tank for many years.)

Non-phosphated detergents that contain zeolites are probably worse for septic tanks, because zeolites contribute increased volumes of sludge (zeolite is basically clay) that must be pumped out of the tank on a regular basis.

In fact STPP might even be beneficial for septic tanks, since it tends to keep hard water minerals from precipitating out, and thus they could be ejected from the tank with the rest of the solubles into the leach field.

Is it tri-sodium phosphate, YES?

I am so confused here....need to know what to add to the dishwashers we use, to cut the "white film problem" with these new detergents? We prefer Finish and use "jet dry" in the dispensers, for our machines...for ALMIGHTY SAKES....HELP !!!!!!!! I was on my way to buy at True Value Hardware... TSP for this problem and now I have NO IDEA....PLEASE ADVISE AT ONCE>>>SOMEONE HELP....!!!!!! Use it in your clothes and Laundry ALSO ????OMG !!!!>>>I AM SO LOST HERE, WHAT IS THIS OTHER STUFF? HELLLLPP!!!!

Be careful using STPP in the dishwasher. If I use more than 1/4 teaspoon in each cup, my KDS-19 sudslocks. Keep in mind I nearly have rocks coming out of my spigot with water hardness reaching as high as 15 grains. You may have to cut back on detergent if using STPP or play around with ratios of detergent/STTP. Hang around dishwasher and listen for any changes in operation and pull the door open on the last rinse to make sure suds aren't present.

Gee whiz Dan!

I thought the water in Fresno/Clovis was hard. Ours is around 5.5 grains, a little higher in Clovis than Fresno. I can't imagine having water as hard as you guys have there. That's gotta suck!

Indeed! Lots of of Limeaway is liberally used in the bathroom sinks and toilets. Actually had to dispose of a vintage American Standard toilet because it was nearly plugged up with hard water deposits. Luckily, I was able to get another vintage American standard toilet as a replacement. 5 gallon flushes are the ONLY way to go!

Yeah those water saving ones are pointless. You usually have to flush it 4 or 5 times to get everything down, which defeats the purpose lol. I can just imagine what your incoming water pipes look like with water that hard.

LOL! Actually, I found no build-up in the cold/hot copper pipes when I converted the original galvanized facets for the washer to 1/4 turn brass ball valves. Found only a slight haze of build-up in the metal drainpipe for the sink upstairs when I replaced it with PVC piping. I know, I don't get it either, but I'm certainly not complaining :)

I'm having a tough time with...

My Dishwasher. I'm using Somat with 1/2 tsp od TSSP. The Glasses are coming out horrible. I don't like to use Drying Agent, and before everything was fine. I guess the Powedered Cascade I had was doing OK. However, my White Laundry shines as bright as revvinKevin's Lighted Controled Garage. LOL
