Howdy,

So the greenmore got a new pump, but I was curious. Since the motor pully, and trans pully is smaller wouldn't the pump pully need to be smaller as well? Shes still not able to drain a full <empty> wash load in the alloted time so I've re-enlisted the help of the lid switch and bypassed the filter. Still no joy. Seems like the motor speed would have to be different to compensate for the smaller pullys, or does this green baby agitate and spin faster or slower than its thicker belted cousins?

Anyone recall if these thin belters have different pullys on the pumps? Is there a Dr. LeFever in the house?

Thanks,
Partially Drained in San Diego

Hi Steven how are you. Not that this helps with your question, but I was just wondering did this just happen since you took the machine back to CA? I don't remember any pump or draining issues in Tucson, but I'm also not that technically inclined, so I can't be sure. Hope you're able to get to the root of the issue!

I remember pumps including an extra pulley for a flat, ribbed belt more akin to a dryer belt than the skinny V-belt that QuietPak used. Never could figure what Whirly washer used a flat ribbed belt (compacts/portables, maybe?). IIRC, if the QuietPak belt was used, the procedure was to swap the pulley from the original pump to the replacement.

sweet

I can check with my parts guy, thanks gentlemen =) I think while I'm down there I will try and get a new belt.

The new pump does not come with the pulley for the "quiet pak" belt part # 96388. You have to reuse the pulley from the old pump. You can try wedging a stiff wire or coat hanger into the port closest to the impeller and unscrew the pulley from the old pump. You will then have to remove the pulley from the new pump in the same fashion and screw on the skinny pulley onto the new pump. Hope this helps!

the old pump has the same pully

That might explain why it wasn't draining the water completely! Anyone know where I can get the smaller pully and hopefully a belt?

old pump pully

Actually I did, but that old pump had the big pully just like my other belt drive does. I think that machine had the wrong pump for awhile. I will call around and see if any part stores still have the other pully in old stock.

I do know that belt is NLA so if you'd like to sell me yours I'd be very appreciative!

Email me if you can:

They don't appear to to have the pulley for the pump tho

They most definetely have the pump assembly, but the different pulley for the quiet pack I believe is NLA. I will order the belt and filter but that still leaves me without the solution for the real problem, or am I missing something.

Try typing in 110.7004800 if you look at the drive system you can see the different pulleys for the motor, but when you goto water system there aren't two pulleys. I will go ahead and order the pulley on that website, but I have a feeling I'm going to get what I already have.

Anybody got a pump pulley for a think belter available? $$$$

Call Sears Parts directly, tell them what you need. Check with local long-time repair services also. Also try calling RepairClinic.com, they may have parts available that aren't listed online.

Ack!

I'm sorry about the pump issues, Steven...I didn't even realize that the spare pump had the wrong pulley size, but this was my first Quiet-Pak machine, so I probably filed it in the "oh well" file and didn't even notice.

I have another spare pump, but not one with the correct pulley size...though I am glad to hear that the pulley sounds available. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Changing the belt sounds like a good idea, anyhow; it was on the to-do list, but never got, um, done.

I hope they behave better for you soon--I'm really sorry about all the trouble! :-|

Pay Dirt =)

Howdy,

Today we ordered the following parts:

New Thin belt pump pulley for the "new" pump I put in. Found an appliance store that had it old stock (WHEW!)
New Filter (might as well, I already by-passed it)
New Diaphram (just in case its not closing and pumping water back into the tub)
New Belt (Seems the old belt is being shredded by riding on the big pulley'd pump?

Anyway I think that'll do it!!

Nate, don't even worry about it, its a learning experience for me too. I had no idea what 'quiet pack' meant, but now we all do =) The machines are totally awesome! The new parts will be here in a few weeks, so I'll post pics when they area all nice and installed.

I suppose we want pics of the 'new' combo we picked up from Roberts friend in LA right?

Glad you found what you needed. Such a wonderful machine. I really enjoyed it in Arizona. The big button ones were always some of my favorites.
