Turquoise Appliances

Not sure if this should go here or in the "Super" category, but I'm preparing for a kitchen remodel and I want turquoise appliances. Does anyone have any experience with electrostatic painting? My stove and dishwasher are both too new to replace. I do need a new refrigerator and my idea is to have them painted. Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

Welcome to the club!
My experience with electrostatic wasn't a pleasant one. Not to say that it can't be done and look good. If I were you I would paint the fridge and dishwasher conventional and have the stove powder coated. If you do that have the stove done first, then match the color for the fridge and dishwasher from the stove. Your limited on powder color.

I agree, I'll not do the electrostatic thing again either. I thought it was too heavy of a paint coat all at one time (runs and dribbles) and I asked for bright white, but ended up with a more of an off-white. I paid very little for it so I don't care, but next time will have it done at a body shop for a true professional look. If you can find the pics of RickR's Kenmores, they are a very good example of how good it can get.

1965 Kenmores

These two,and others I have,were painted at an auto body shop my a friend of mine. He used automotive grade paint,and they always turn out awesome! He has my 1958 pink Maytag set now,and I should be getting those back before too long.

Of dryer. These Kenmores were dismantled to the last nut and bolt. Nothing had to be "masked" at all. That is the only way to paint appliances,IMO.

Did you basically supply him just the loose lid and outside "shell" to paint?

Hey there Kevin!! These were taken in 1993. I had just finished these,and they were still out in the garage. The cabinets are all that go to the body shop. The mechanisms stay behind with me for a rebuild in the meantime.

I had been wondering what you washed with after the Orbital Maytag was gone...

I got the 61 Whirlpool in March of 2003,and had it finished in April of 2003.That was the first classic used,after selling the Maytag. I found the Kenmores in April of 2003,and had them finished at the end of June of 2003.The Filter-Flo came along about the same time the Kenmores were finished also. It was a busy Summer that year. Seems like it was a long time ago,but that is only two years.Time flys when you are having fun!!

I guess my main concern here is with the stove. What's best to stand up to the heat of the oven? I cook a lot.

Burpilator, you have two options

I would sell your stove and look for a vintage model in the color you want. They turn up fairly often. Or if you do not want a vintage stove,you can purchase a reprodution in the color you want.See the link below.
