Well today I did a measure of the tweaked water levels in the Speed Queen.
She is filling 7 gallons now!!
She shows water through the holes in the tub at 1 gallon, --very efficient.
TO compare:
The 1958 Duomatic uses:
Low- 6 gallons on fill High - 8 gallons on fill.
BUT The sump of the DUO takes a whopping 3 gallons before any water shows in the holes in the tub!!
So the effective working water is minus 3 gallons. The SQ effective water is minus 1 gallon.
The Duo does between 9-15 pounds effective wash with 5 gallons!
The SQ can do up to 18 pounds effective wash with 6 gallons.
15/5=3 3 pounds/gallon in the DUO for wash.
18/6=3! 3 pounds / gallon in the SQ--with my factory tweak!
So the SQ is washing just like the DUO now. YAY!
I never knew how much water the sump held in the DUO before! So Rosalie's is at the same concentration in each machine but you can tweak 3 more pounds of clothes out of the SQ because of its efficient use of water!!
The Speed Queen is a more efficient machine, there have been improvements in 60 years.
