Twin tub wanted

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

If the local paper has adverts for people who do house clearances you could contact them and ask them to keep an eye out for a twin tub. Some of them probably take them straight to to scrap metal merchants, assuming nobody wants twin tubs any more.

I want a TT too. Can get a new Panasonic but has to be shipped from Kuwait. Few today want to be bothered but it's the most satisfying laundry experience.

Ebay

Hoovermatics are regularly listed on ebay, all over the country so its just a matter of time till one comes up near you, it wont be long. Also, keep an eye on Shoppers Square here as items will often get listed there as well. Don't rule out the Hotpoint Supermatic or the Servis Supertwin - at least then you washing wont be tangled into a ball - something that is difficult to avoid with a Hoovermatic.

Shoppers square? New one on me never heard of it, I have chance of a recon hoover attic it's £350 does anyone think it's a good price or expensive?

Shoppers Square

may be accessed at the top of the page you are now reading, a place Robert (webmaster) created so that listings in ebay, Craigslist etc. could be recorded for easy reference, the icon is almost exactly in the centre of the page. Robert has added more functionality so that ebay listings are highlighted at the top of the screen, the default is USA but you can set it to UK by clicking in the appropriate box.

And £350 is way over the odds for a Hoovermatic - they are fundamentally a simple machine (much simpler than the Hotpoint and Servis models, although it has its limitations resulting in the tangling) that was made for many, many years. You should be able to pick up a late model for around £50 (and I have got a reasonably rare early model in good condition for £10 in the past off ebay) - if you are concerned about parts you could even get two for a lot less money - one to use and one for parts if you felt you needed it

Hi Phil

I agree with Al - £350 is way too much. Keep your eyes peeled on eBay and also gumtree and freecycle. I managed to pick up a T5090 for £15 from an elderly couple who also gave me a whole load of parts from at least 4 previous machines that they had owned. I thought the salvaged spin can would not be worth keeping but it turned out to be invaluable when I picked up a wash dog that had it missing!

There were a few machines on ebay before Christmas so I don't think you will have long to wait
:)
