Today, I got two things that I really like!  I have to admit I like one more than the other...

...and it's probably not the most versatile or best performing one but...!

In Snowcrest White!

Aven if it's not Turquoise, there was someone else quite thrilled to see it!

Thanks A lot to Robert who made this possible and to Paul who helped me a lot to get it!  Without both of you, I wouldn't have it!

Yes, that Frigidaire is definitely cool! I had never seen a Custom Imperial up close and personal before. Let's see which one of these dishwashers makes it into the kitchen next to the Frigidaire range and refrigerator chez Phil...

Glad the Frigidaire DW made it there safe and sound! Everything with the shipping seemed to have gone really smoothly, which is always a big relief!

Looking forward to seeing pictures of it in it's new home.

That Frigidaire is very rare but the one I used did not clean very well though compared to a Kitchenaid .I was young

when I used this machine and did not know how to load it at all.

My Mammaw had a cool Frigidaire and would wash like hell also.It was a 1975 or so and had a tower that shot up and hit

this pin-wheel thing that wobbled and the main wash arm had a small steel wash arm on the end of it.

That dishwasher I think had a 180degree Sani-wash cycle.I loved that dishwasher and it lasted until 1992 and was

replaced with another Frigidaire dishwasher. It could clean and did moved the water but did not clean like her old T.O.L.

one.I like that KDS-18 I have never had one,I just got me a mint KDS-21 but my next scores will be a G.E. 1100/1200 and

a KDS-18 or KDS-20C.

Does the Kitchen Aid have the "party" cycle on it?
I am assuming that is the loading instructions printed on the inside of the door of the Frigidaire? Can we get a closer look? How long would those instructions last under constant use?

The Kitchen-Aid is too new to have a Partycycle! I have a KDS-58C that had been partially converted as a built-in but it still has it's cabinet and cord winder. The upper rack was in bad shape and I was looking to get a replacement for it at a thrift store when I saw this KDS-18C with very nice racks. This one also still has the original constant-rinse while it was replaced with the newer type on the KDS- 58C. As for the Frigidaire, I have almost kinds of Frigidaire dishwashers, I have 3 of the newer Super Surge models that I really like too (one with the rapid advance timer, fan drying, auxiliary spray arm, double detergent dispenser and 150 degrees wash) but the beautiful porcelain in the older Spay Tube machines is so nice! And that sound they make. I just love these machines!

Now, the only Frigidaire dishwasher that I'd really like to find is one of the Canadian portable models that rides on an air cushion! These dishwashers didn't have casters. Instead, they had a built-in air pump and a "Ride Aire" pad under them. Frigidaire Canada innovated in 1965 with the Ride-Aire system on it's refrigerators but in 1966, it became available on portable dishwashers and there were even some Rollermatic washers made for Habitat67 that had that feature! As far as I know, in the system was also used in the US but only on refrigerators and starting in 1966.

TWO!?

Very nice. Very nice indeed. I like the Kitchenaid the most, but Frigidaire is like finding those rare mushrooms.

That was kind of Robert and Paul, and glad they made it safely, PhilR.

Phil, It arrived just a few minutes after I emailed you about it while I was waiting for the shipper to meet me in Newport VT!

Good thing I took a few minutes to reply to your message as I was getting tired to be waiting at the McDonalds restaurant next to the grocery store where I was supposed to meet the shipper earlier that day and I was about to head back to Canada when I got the call from Paul that the shipper had just contacted to tell him he'd be there in a few minutes!

Here's an older thread with loading instructions - although the top rack is different.

Also, we want more of that (is this one of our members?):

Congrats! That KitchenAid is the exact model my family had when I was growing up. The 180F Sani-rinse was hot. If you run that cycle with a heated dry, you will NOT be able to touch the dishes when the cycle finishes.

If I remember correctly, the normal cycle has 7 water changes. R-R-PreW-W-R-R-R
