Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Robert :)

yes indeed, because of the shape and the tipical grey colour of the Zanussi washers from the '80 :)

My big/Dreamspace naturally has a bleach compartment - being that it's practically the same as machine as its American cousins. The manual says to use LCB on a separate rinse cycle. However, the bleach dispenser is always flushed during the first rinse (and again during the final rinse) even though the manual does not mention this. I don't use bleach, though. But I could pour some vinegar in here...

Hehe :))

Hi Tom!

My ancient gorenje PEA is still "rocking hard". She is in perfect shape and condition but now she is taking a rest in the basement (cellar) for some time, while I play with this Candy.

I have never tried ACE before and used it on a load of delicate whites at 30 degrees and am very impressed with it but as many of you have said, if bleach is dispensed in the first rinse as seems to be the norm it would be inappropriate to put ACE in the bleach compartment cos that has to go in the main wash. I guess I will do what I have always done, and ignore that compartment!! Thanks for all the advice :-)

On my grandmas old Hoover performer the machine filled through the bleach dispenser on the 1st rinse. The rinse would also tumble whilst it filled, whereas all the other rinses it would fill, then tumble. This probably meant that the bleach is evenly mixed, and the 1st rinse after fill is complete is the same as a normal rinse, so you get more tumbling.
The machine would also fill through that compartment on rinse 2, to flush out any bleach remaining, rinse 3 & 4 filled through mainwash & pre-wash compartments. Final rinse would start fill through Conditioner though would then fill through pre-wash near the end-as this would always leave a little softener in the bottom of it.

Hope that helps:)

My washer

I've just looked at the Zanussi's manual (FJD1266W) and it does not have a bleach compartment, even though there is a mystery compartment next to the fabric softener. All there is on the fabric conditioner compartment is a slot for the fabric conditioner and a grab handle with text saying "Remove to clean".

Newer Candys

Here's a cut from new Candy's instruction manual.
They recommend doing a rinse-only cycle, and putting bleach immediatley. However there is not available option where bleaching is integrated to the whole programme, like on older ones.

P.S
Sorry because I am telling you only about Candy's, but those are only machines I am sure I know that stuff about ;)
