I was aimlessly surfing the Web and wondered about those "El Cheapo" detergents that are available in the UK supermarkets ("Daisy" soap powder); and the cheap, budget 'jack-of-all-trades' shops that sell "Easy" detergents.

Apparently, they are both made by PLP of Co. Durham.

What got me though, was the ingredients data list. There is no zeolite listed - instead, 'Ye Olde' Sodium Tripolyphosphate is a main component of the formulation.

I also read in one of PLP's 'Press Releases', that Jeyes (of Parozone fame) has recently purchased PLP for an undisclosed sum.

"Jeyes "as in the

Jeyes Fluid cleaner of the 1920s?

It's mentioned in Dorothy L. Sayers' Murder Must Advertise, and I've wondered about it ever since.
