and for something a bit different...

NOT a Servis, but another classic from my childhood which I would snap up if I could - just down the M1 from me in the other direction.

A smart looking 1980's Bauknecht.

Be great to see all three machines snapped up by preservationists.

Hi Alan

if only I could!

Don't own my own place so all I can do is watch from the sidelines.
It' bloody painful watching stuff go by as well.

All I can do is flag machines and warn people - these machines (the first in particular) are all real classics that I would love to have in my collection. I just hope someone else is able to accommodate them.

Fingers crossed.

Hi Again, Just seen the Keymatic, it looks as though it's in a sorry state but a bit of paint and restoring, not to mention new parts and then it'll be working again. How cool would it be to own 1 of those eh?!

BTW, If you could have 1 of the 4 machines you found on Ebay, Which would it be and why?

Hi Alan

If the Keymatic were in good nick it would be that - but as it isn't, it's not.

My preference would be...

first place : Servis Quartz (superb machine and a real classic of my childhood, which it appears that no one wants judging by the fact that it hasn't got a bid! I know it's easy for me to say but....SOMEONE BID FOR IT)

joint second place : bauknecht and Servis 6025. The Bauknecht machine is another machine from my childhood, but obviously ain't a classic UK machine. The Servis is a very late slimline model and thus not a classic slimline machine in my eyes.
Both these machines have pro's and cons as to why they should or should not be in second place.

third place : the Keymatic. Now, if this machine weren't so far gone it would be in first place, without a shadow of a doubt. Only the hardened restorer would be able to take this on and make it look presentable and I lack the skills.
Nevertheless, quite possibly THE classic of classics which every collector has on his/her list of wants.

If I had my own place (and the space to go with it) I would snap them all up.

God I hope someone claims that Quartz! (seems like people are fighting over the Bauknecht - I wonder if they realise how old it is - or is someone on here having a flutter?).

Cheers
Paul

That's a good selection of machines you've found, I quite like the Servis Quartz myself, I used to have 1 of those but it was a rebranded Electra. It was a late model and I spent much of my childhood in front of it and has seen itself in 3 different houses lol!

It was a decent machine that was easy to use, I quite liked the indicator lights which tells you what stage of the programme it was at and that it did nice water levels for rinsing too. The maximum spin was only 900 RPM which sounds average nowadays. I also remember the Cancel button which means the drain pump can be activated at any time, even when there's no programme on. There is of course the big panel door which is a bit like what you see on a condenser dryer but the drum capacity was small at only 4KG which meant that on some days, we had to do more than 1 load a day lol!

My model lasted an impressive 11 years considering the longevity of machines back then and my model was in white with dark grey although I do recall seeing the same machine in all white.

I liked that machine very much and have many found memories of it. So, that's my experience of having an Electra (Servis Quartz) washing machine.

BTW, If you find anymore interesting machines on Ebay, let me know!
