Hi Guys

Im currently getting to the end of my current detergent and need some new stuff.

Im currently using Daz...(yes I know....) but it seems to be irritating Andrews skin so thought I would go over to unilever.

I would have gone straight for Persil liquigel but Makro currently has Surf liquigel on offer..£10.99 for 10 litres.

Im thinking of going for it but can't remember if its any good.

Can anyone advise?

I know powder is better but im finding liquid rinses better in the speed queen top loader which I use as my main machine.

Thank you for any advice received

Mark

Hi Mark,
Its OK cleaning wise but the scents leave a lot to be desired and remain even after drying. The Tropical fresh scent is particularly overpowering. Andrew is most likely reacting to the scent in Daz (There is no shame in using Daz it's an excellent detergent) as it tends to linger even after drying. You should try some Amway SA8 Premium with Bioquest, it cleans superbly and rinses out leaving virtually no scent behind. The down side is you can only buy it through an Amway distributor.

Hey David!

Thank you very much for your response.

I did in the end get the Surf last night basically due to the cost issue! I was looking at the other liquids and one 5 litre bottle of Persil was the same price as the 10 litres of Surf so I went with the surf. I just hope Andrew is ok with that one as I now have 10 litres of it!

Its a shame as I did like the Daz as the scent was very vintage but its always good to try something new. Im not good at sticking to the same detergent as I like a change but I hadn't used Surf for ages and had forgotten what its cleaning ability was like.

Can I ask you a question David. How much detergent do you use in your Whirlpool?

It says on the Surf bottle (For top loaders and Twin Tubs)(was very surprised they put this on there so was nice to see)Use double the amount recommended for a front loader. What I do though is use one of the balls and fill this to the top. Think it ends up being about 170ml. Double the amount would be about 210ml so think 170 ml is about right. Im very bad for overdosing on detergent so im probably still putting too much in but im happy with a full ball!

Hi Mark,
Sorry for my late answer I missed your reply in this thread.
I use the recommended dosage for a front loader and this always gives me perfect results. Always remember that the detergent makers like us to use much more than we need so we buy more sooner. I have very soft water here so I can use less detergent and still get great results but the dosage you need will depend on the water hardness in your area so trial and error is the best suggestion. A cup (200ml) of LCB is very effective on kitchen stains but only use it on white fabrics and only with an oxygen bleach free powder or liquid detergent.

A correctly loaded Top Loader creates powerful water currents flexing and forcing the washing solution through the fibers which produces a very efficient cleaning action.
