Ummm.....Come on, REALLY?

So I was telling you all about the issues with the Simplicity TT spin brake.
Well, on Sunday I had a big wash day to deal with and I decided to bring the Maytag A50 into the Kitchen and use it next to the Simplicity rather than use it in the Bathroom and basket the clothes back and forth. Well, the A50 ALSO wouldn't brake when I was using it that day. No big deal really and even though I have had the back off it all this time, I didn't bother to look as I had a pretty good feeling what had happened so I wasn't too worried.
I got six full loads done that day-that's 2 in an average top loader or 1 in a large front loader. But there was still lots more to do.
So yesterday was a decider "should I finished it today or do it tomorrow" day. Since I had plans for today, then yesterday was the day!
I decided to repeat the same procedure as the day before and rolled the Maytag into the Kitchen next to the Simplicity.
The A50 had corrected itself (as I had expected it would), so no problems there.
But get this, after a couple of spins in the Simplicity, I noticed it was 'Stopping-on-a-Dime' again. And it continued that way for 8 more consecutive loads of laundry.
I even turned off the music to listen to it and that annoying ringing sound was completely gone as well.
Whatever was happening before is not happening with it now.
Can you believe this? Did the clock change send a signal to the universe for my machine(s) to reset themselves?
These issues didn't last long obviously, but they were real and they were happening.
I'm baffled but completely relieved as well.
So for now, all is well in Twin Tub Land! (That would be mid-town Toronto, btw)

Ha! That's too funny. Something must have been out, and worked its way back into place, maybe when you were rolling it. It's like in the computer world what we call the "laying on of hands"... sometimes all it takes to get a machine running again is to press down on all of the socketed ICs to reseat them. I've been doing a lot of this the past few days as I am a collector of Commodore computers, and bought a collection from someone off of Kijiji recently... starting to go through it all to see what works and what doesn't.

I really think there is a Guardian Angel for those of us not mechanically gifted. I can't tell you the number of times things gone wrong suddenly fixed themselves.
Guess you're blessed too. How nice.

But I must ask you, Scott, why did you tip the machine over to dislodge the coin, rather than remove the agitator?

Ah, Mickey.....

Someone finally asked!!!!!
The reason is, and I keep meaning to post a thread asking for advice.
The agitator cap is STUCK! I can't even loosen it slightly for the life of me.
And since the transmission is 'locked' when not operating, (meaning the agitator does NOT move when the machine is idle or not in use), there should be enough resistance to get it even slightly loosened.
I really want to be able to get the agitator off to see the machine's condition underneath it and examine the drive shaft and block etc. But also to see if the pump opening is clear as it sometimes drains quite slowly from the washtub.
Oh, and unfortunately, it wasn't a coin-it was my brand new spare battery for my BlackBerry. And it had been under there a few weeks before I discovered that's where it was. I'm hoping it didn't do any damage to the washtubs' porcelain interior under the agitator from all that smashing around of the battery under there from the water turbulence these past few weeks.
Sigh..........

BTW, any suggestion Guys as to how to loosen the cap?
I am quite mechanically inclined Mickey, I just don't have a huge desire to start taking things apart if it's unnecessary to do so at this point in time.
When I have to though, I will, and I do!

Did you try spraying some WD 40 into the gap between the cap and the agitator? The newest cans of that come with a cool little hose that just might hit the spot and do the trick.
