The gods of chrome must be looking down on me favorably this week. I packaged up my Braun mixer today and was on the way to UPS to ship it, feeling sort of sad because I did like it and they are rare finds, when I figured I'd stop in at a thrift store I had to drive past anyways. I near had a heart attack when I saw this Oster Regency Kitchen Center in chrome no less with the original instruction books, the food processor, the coffee grinder and the meat grinder, SS bowls, no blender jar but I got lots of those anyways. Best yet it's not got even the tiniest mark or speck of dirt on it and purrs like new, many used ones don't and need taking apart and cleaning out. Cost me a little more than I'd usually spend but it was sure worth it.
It makes me feel better about shipping off the Braun. I even found an almost new Hoover Preferred upright with all the attachments but it's one of the new plastic ones so is not deemed photo-worthy and will be sold to support my addictions.

I have one already in almond and I saw a harvest one the other day at VV but it was absolutely filthy I was scared to lift it over to the plug in. When I plugged it in the motor was grinding something awful so I left it there. And to think they wanted 28 bucks for a piece of junk. They're ok machines but not very robust for heavy duty work, the one thing I do like about them is that the low speed is very slow. When you make frozen OJ just dump it in,fill the jar right below the top, that's 3 cans worth, no measuring, and turn it on, you don't even have to hold the top down because it doesn't splurge up like low speeds on regular blenders. I don't know what year this one is, extra pieces can be ordered from the booklet that came with it,, MasterCharge or Chargex, that's how old it is.. LOL

It's not only chrome...

It's combine menager!

Wonder if chrome was only offered in Canada? Never seen one down here.

Oh, by the way, oooooOOOOOOOooooooh!

I'll probably feel foolish after

you answer this, but....

What the heck is the Bosch thing next to it????? I have been staring at it and absolutely cannot figure it out.

A compartment for something. A bowl on it. Settings of M 0 1 2 3 and hieroglyphics along the bottom.

THAT qualifies for a "what am I thread".

Kevin that's a Bosch Universal mixer, my daily user. Superb machine that dare I say it, ok I will, outperforms a KA on every level. For one, it's quiet, it weighs only 12 pounds so anyone can lift it up and it can handle more flour, up to 10 cups without laboring or missing a beat (700 watts). And because it's driven from underneath there's no motor head and beaters to get in the way of adding ingredients while it's mixing. I highly recommend one if you're serious about a new mixer, I make all my bread in it. I only have the dough hook, whisks and cookie paddles but there are plenty of optional attachments, a blender, meatgrinder, flour mill, 2 food processors, and others, but each one is very expensive and if you already have the other machines, a waste of money.

Snappy!

Pete you find good stuff, and that chrome is something I have never seen before.
In the US they were offered in Avocado, Harvest gold, and later almond/brown and white.
The chrome is cool, and definately a keeper!

Amazing...I would not have thought that

I was almost thinking some sort of rice cooker. But what is the compartment looking affair with lid right above the dial switch? Or does it just look that way in the pic?

Here's a better pic..
The compartment with the switch is the motor housing, the lid on top of it removes and you stick a blender there.
Here it is with the dough hook in the bowl, as you can see it's all open so adding ingredients while it operates is no muss no fuss. The revolving hook actually catches the dough and stretches it,then balls it up and stretches it again. It kneads so well that no second rise of the dough is necessary as it is by hand or with other mixers. 9 minutes to perfection every time. LOL.. I do a lot of bread making. I can get 6 loaves from one batch with this machine. The Bosch is not a "new" type of mixer, it's been on the market in Europe for 60 years. They have a newer model out called the Concept, the motor is totally beneath the bowl, not off to the side. The only other machine similar is the Electrolux Assistent (with an e) sometimes called the DLX. Now you can see the hieroglyphics, showing you where to place the attachments.
I see they sell for about $279 US without the attachments, pricey but well worth it. I got mine as a dealers demo for a song $99 Cdn so I couldn't pass it up though I had to buy the whisks and cookie paddles afterwards. It also comes in chrome but the price jumps to about $600 and it also comes as a built in counter unit, even more.

I had forgotten you had that Bosch Pete. Glad you're liking it! I too had not seen a chrome Kitchen Center, very fun. My mom has (an almond) one at her Arizona house and likes it very much.

Well I just did a little Sherlock Holming since the instruction manual has a card in it to buy optional accessories and you can pay for them with MasterCharge or Chargex (pre Visa name inCanada). Chargex changed it's name in 1977 to VISA so I would have to assume that this machine is from 1977 or prior.

Very interesting! I hadn't realized the kitchen centers went back into the 70s. I had thought they were primarily an 80s thin.
