Did the Unimatic have a pump that pumped the water out of the machine into the drain? Ours drained directly into a floor drain behind the washer, but my grandmother's drained into her kitchen sink. She would lay the hose over into the sink (and placed a brick on the hose to hold it down) when she did laundry. That setup seems like it would have required a pump.

A pump is part of the Unimatic motor/transmission assembly. The pump is running any time the motor is. Because it is a solid tub machine, it can be used with a floor drain without worry about the water draining out of the machine during the cycle.
