Well, Today I installed the New Fill Solenoid Valve.

When I turned the water on, The Hot Water trickles out of the Fill Flume with no electricity.

I turn on the electricity and it fills (Hot).

I turn the Temp. Switch to Warm and I do not get Cold Water for the Mix.

And the Valve is Leaking where the Electrical Unit that operates the Valves is seated.

So I think the first thing to address is Why is the Valve Leaking ?

And Second, Why am I not getting Cold Water ?

I now turn to the Unimatic Professors for HELP !!!

I titled this Unimatic Massachusetts because We got alot of Unimatics on the Board Lately LOL !!!

What does the new valve look like Eddie? It sounds like you have a bad new valve if its leaking.

But luck isn't everything. My restoration wouldn't be possible without the precious help I've found here.

I can see Unilever's profit will increase a lot. Soon many people will know why.

What would be a good retro fit valve that will work on the Machine ? Thanks, Eddie

You can really use any valve Eddie, but you will need to slow the flow rate down otherwise it will overfill. To slow the rate of fill down use an adjustable ball valve (shown below and available at Ace Hardware or Home Depot), you place the valve on the fill flume hose running up the back of the machine and adjust the lever to get the proper fill level.

As all new standard valves are hot/cold valves if you use a standard valve you will get Hot water on the hot setting or Cold water on the warm setting. You might want to check with Larry at Modern Parts, he might have some old nylon hot/warm valves which stand up to age better than those early brass valves.

I'm going to pull that New/Old Valve out and see if I can find out why it leaks. I really would like the Option of a Hot/ Warm Wash and a Warm Rinse. Would placing a Water Tempering Valve on the Cold Line give me the Warm Wash and Rinse I'm looking for ???

Keep at it, Eddie!

It may be a bad seal (dried up in storage) between the two halves of the valve (my Westy washer did that when I was still using the original solenoid). If worst comes to worst, try replacing yours with a modern replacement part - This worked just fine on my L5, too!
