Today's doctrine is also something I had since I was about 12 years old. It's a colorful brochure for prospective laundromat owners or laundromat owners who want to upgrade their equipment.

I remember those orange, avocado and apple green Speed Queen coin ops so well from when I was a kid. Speed Queen laundromats we're my second favorite next to Frigidaire laundromats. I loved all the drama those SQ coin-ops produced and the lid switches on SQ coin-op washers had a tendency to stick closed so most would spin with the lid open.

For those who downloaded it check out the shorts the woman is wearing on page 6, lol. They obviously were trying to sell to straight men. ;-)

Laundramat

The first laundramat that I ever saw was in 1958 in Pontiac, Il where we lived. They had Norge washers with the lint pan taken off. My mom liked using them though and they cleaned well. They had Hubusch driers.

An apartment complex I lived in the DC area-suitland,MD-had blue colored solid drum SQ washers-did enjoy using them. They were replaced with WP washers and dryers. The SQ machines were in the early 70's.Sometime in the early eighties just before I moved from that complex-they put in Amana-Raytheion SQ washers-the older McGraw Edison ones were better.Best laundramat machines I ever used!

I actually had found an orange SQ coin-op washer like in yesterday's doctrine from the early 70s at an Estate sale once, but it wasn't for sale and even if it was the stairs leading out look very bad. I would love to find an orange SQ coin-op someday, not that I know where I'd put it, but it would be cool!

Scrolling, indeed.

If Ben's new friend's short-shorts were scrolled up any higher, the Imperial Police would be right after you, Mister. LOL

THOSE COLORS; Leave it to the seventies. As psychedelic as the orange is, the lime/avacodo blend is true enough to be in the produce aisle.

But I most love the row of first born SQ's in black and white--so surgical, so sterile, so fifties, and what a stark contrast to the replacements. Are those really see thru lids? We need to get one of those in our mass collection.

Just checked again: lids are too dark to be see thru.

When you first open the document and see the sky in flashes of alternate deep blues , you can't help but think of Van Gogh's "Starry Night." What classy work they did. Oh to have the vibrant trippy Seventies back!
