Well we got possession of our new house Wednesday evening and started taking over all of the furniture/boxes that have been stored in moms garage on Thursday. Yesterday we rented a Uhaul and grabbed the rest of the furniture from the mini-storage leaving behind only my plethora of boxes and vacuums still to come (I'll use the pickup for that later) once the house is straightened away.
There were as always happens a few "moments" before we took possession. We found out that the huge deck out back was "illegal" and they never had a permit when it was built. It abutts the fenceline and should have been a minimum of 3 ft away. Then to my horror, they removed all of the beautiful wire shelving from the her downstairs "craftroom", she was an avid scrapbooker, patched the screwholes, about 100 of them and were going to leave the room in that state.. I contacted our realtor and told him to tell them to give me back those shelves!!! They were part of the conveyance since they wereattached to the walls. So I got them back but will have to put them back up myself, which is ok since I hated the bright sunny yellow paint in the room . I just cannot believe that they would have taken them in the first place..they got a premium price for the house. Then to top it off I am 99% positive that there was a Honeywell setback thermostat on the wall next to the old Honeywell original roundie. Well it wasn't there when we moved in, just a small hole in the plaster with two mounting screws top/bottom. Can you believe it..so cheap they took a $40 T-stat out. But we're in and that's all that matters after a 2month wait. YAY...

So in the Kitchen there is a Danby Designer full size "all fridge". There isn't a freezer compartment inside at all. I quite like it now, so much room. Fortunately it works well in this house because the laundry room and our chest freezer, like theirs was, is right around the corner. We never used our chest freezer much before but I guess we will now., LOL

The dishwasher is a KA KUDS01IL. I've used it a couple of times now and it works well though I much preferred our old Miele in the other house. The KA can't hold regular dinner plates on the top rack even in its lowest position. And all the gimmicky moving and removeable tines.. I'll never bother with that. Has quite a few programs...potscrub/baked on,normal, china, quick wash, optional santizer, no heat drying etc.. I had to turn the water heater up though because the first time I used it, it took almost 1 hr to heat the water automatically for the wash cycle,, what's with that? The Miele never took that long. Anyways, once I upped the water heater (higher than I'd like) it went thru its program quite fast. At least it's not noisy, I was impressed how quiet it is.. it doesn't hold a candle to the Miele for being silent but it's not obtrussive. I guess I'll keep it LOL

Now I have to go buy a couple of huge yard rakes..There are enough oak leaves in the back yard to blanket the earth it seems. My thoughts were on buying a new lawnmore to do them in..but I can barely find one in any store right now and I'd rather wait till spring when all the makes and models are out on display and unfortunately at premium price .

YAY

Congrats on the move Pete! Glad you are there safe and sound..

I saw the house pics you posted too, looks very nice!

Well Toggles it's not quite what we were imagining LOL. There are stairs everywhere and everytime you want something it seems like you're going either up or down one or two flights of stairs. I know it's hard to believe but I'm not a spring chicken anymore!! T'was the reason the previous owners sold the place, she couldn't handle the stairs anymore. I spent about 3 hrs today raking leaves in the back yard and only got less than 1/2 of it done..10 large leaf bags and I was kaput. I love the workshop downstairs though, great long bench, peg boards, drawers, outlets...hopefully I can keep it tidy. Now I can fix things in comfort, not at my pc desk. Anyways you'll see it whenever you manage to get over here. Still haven't got my pc and camera going so no pics..hate having no pics
