Update: What would you ask/Tell me about these Kenmores, plz!

The very reason

Im on this side (deluxe) at the moment, is because I have the exact same washer! It's just starting to act up a little, so I came over to see about non Vintage Kenmores. My partner and I bought it from Sears in 2000, (there's a date) and have have had no problems until now (just a coupler) It has been very dependable for 12 years! So I'l fix it! and continue on! I've never had a FL machine, and aint planing on getting one. I like being able to open the lid and see what's going on, or feel the water for softness, or look at the suds level, or as you say "hear" what going on! I think you'l be happy with yours for a long time.

and forgot

to mention that your pic of the tub did'nt show it having its automatic fabric softener dispenser that sits on top of the agitator? Sure you could find one if you wanted.

May you continue to enjoy your new set. Congrats on nabbing them. I miss the 90 Series Kenmore we had. I would have loved to have taken it and the 80 series dryer with us when we moved 7 years ago, but we had to leave them behind. Enjoy these well.

I had that exact washer.  I bought it new, from the Sears warehouse with a minor dent in the side.

 

They don't make them like this anymore.  This was in 1999.  I bought an electric dryer that is several steps down from yours.  It had the hamper door and 2 temperatures.  The panel had the timer and the push to start button and it was the super capacity, like yours.

They always worked great.  The washer had the snap on fabric softener, though I never used it.  I kept the washer until 2006 when I converted to FL.  I sold the dryer in 2008 and it was still in spotless condition and working great.

 

A year later I bought basically the same set-up, but with  a few more features for my mother as a gift.  My mother kept hers until 2 years ago when she bought a cheaper new Whirlpool set that are like the last of the DDs.  She wishes she had her KM set back.

 

I think the best part about the washer is the 3 speed motor.
