I've got to say thanks for all the great comments. I do really appreciate it. I'll try some collective answers and some individual answers here as well.
First, I would have replied to some comments last night, but my laptop at home has issues. It seems that the computer does not like to have a full glass of Guinness spilled into the keyboard. The Y & T buttons don't work any longer. That happened about 2 months ago. Bummer.
Anyway....About tours. I am always happy to have someone take a tour. Right now, my museum room is full of modern appliances as well. If I know a week or so before someone wants to stop by, I'll have it cleaned up and showable. That's no problem.
Pictures of the old Maytag greyghost wringers were taken a few years ago when we moved in here. They're a little harder to see right now. I think there are about 300 moderns in front of them right now.
Ben -- I don't think that there is a table on the freezer. I'll have to look closer, but I don't recall seeing one. It came from the original owners. They said it still worked, but it sat unused in their basement for the last 20 years or so. I never plugged it in.
Steve -- HOW DARE YOU SWEAR AT ME! ORGANIZING?!?! We really didn't organize anything, just moved a few older pieces down to the 3rd floor to make room for more sellable pieces for the business. You would not have believed what the museum floor looked like before you got here. My brother & I spent the better part of a week straightening up. How's that Maytag washer, by the way? Did you use it yet?
Vern, how did we find most of the stoves? Auctions, privately, internet, shoe leather, word of mouth, etc. We look high & low.
Peter, I don't live in a warehouse (but it feels like I do since I put 70-80 hours/week in here). It's a SMALL 5 story building built in the 1870's. We have our appliance business here.
Mike, the 1st item we bought? Stove-wise it was an 1845 stove made right where I am sitting right now. I bought it off ebay. As far as the very 1st item overall, it was probably a wringer washer, but I can't be sure anymore. The "museum" really isn't open for visitors, it's mainly for our own head. We give tours, though, by invite. Anyone here is invited. Yes, the stoves are heavy. Ouors backs complain all the time. It's nice to have a truck with a liftgate.
Again, thanks for the comments and emails.
