Guys,

I need some advice and rather urgently. I have C7 bulbs lining the edge of the front lawn. They are on holders that are about 6 inches off the ground.

The problem is we are about to have a major winter storm starting late Saturday night, with at least a foot of snow predicted. So essentially they are about to be completely covered up. I'm not completely comfortable with powering them up while covered up.

My gut tells me that I just need to pull them up and put them away as the season will be for the most part over after tonight. I still have time to do this. I hate to do it, but in the end, that's probably the best route. I'll leave the house lights up.

Any ideas?

Are they on a GFI outlet? If so just leave em, the outlet will trip out if they start making contact with ground via water. Even without a GFI as long as nobody touches the light strings themselves they'll be fine. In our climate having Christmas lights buried in snow is unavoidable, some years they even have been completely submerged in water and still worked fine, and were on a GFI outlet so no real danger was posed.
