Who knew.I just read it in todays Toronto paper. I remember somebody here said they'd been denied entry becasue of their HIV status. Maybe I missed it here in which case I apologize for rehashing,, well not really LOL

Yup,

The one and only decent, human thing shrub ever did was to start the process of invalidating this.

The economic cost to the US as well as the cost in human misery which this law (that racist pig Strom Thurman was behind it, no surprise there) was enormous.

That was my partner, Francisco, that was denied entry last May, and had to say goodbye to his teaching job in Vermont. He was interviewed a few weeks ago on CBC radio's "The Current" regarding the whole ordeal. Life has a way of working things out though...he's got a better gig now in Toronto, where I'll be moving at some point this year. Link for CBC's podcast....

One of the most hypocritical laws of all times....the country that is the self-proclaimed leader in fighting HIV/AIDS through research and "tolerance/education" bans travel for HIV infected people. Since I'm a big fan of putting your money where your mouth is, it's about time this piece of trash legislation were repealed. And yes, it was George Bush who began the push for this...hard to believe!
