Hi everyone. I am clearing out more items from my “stash” and want to offer them here. I have several items along with pics. Everything is free, but you’ll need to pay shipping. My zip code is 84103 if you wish to calculate shipping beforehand.

The dryer worked fine, but the frame was bent and the drum kept scraping against the heater housing. I wasn’t ever able to fully correct it so I just stripped everything off.

I spy what appears to be a Controls Corporation timer in photo #18.

Isn’t that a Whirlpool in reply #1 on photo #1?

Interested in 1, 2, 5, 6.

I really don't need these parts but I'd rather save them then have them junked. If you don't mind, we'll wait it out a bit and give someone who may really need these a chance.

Hi Sean, I think the Maytag timer is a Controls Corporation model; I'll check it and get back to you. Yes, the timer & controls are from a Whirlpool model, a Supreme or Imperial series from the early 70's (I cannot find the exact model info; it was lost in a previous "feng shui" attack!) The timer skirt was also lost, but it is a 5 cycle machine, 5 water levels, 5 water temps. It had a straight shot bleach dispenser (not timed), and agitator mounted fabric softner dispenser. The machine had terminal centerpostculocis (really, really bad). Are you interested in either item, or both?

I'll keep you posted Dan if those items are still available later in the month.

Every 642/742/D701 timer I've seen was a CC timer (the timer in the photo is a CC timer). Not sure why Maytag sourced that particular timer from them when the vast majority during this time were Mallory. If I had to take a guess it is related to how the timer interfaces with the electronic control module AND having multiple cycles built within the timer itself.

They started sourcing from Kingston during the 02 series.

Maytag 642C Parts

I have a Maytag 642C dryer in my collection and would be interested in those parts unless Dan also has the same model in his collection, in which case he asked first and deserves them.

Thanks - Jeff

It is indeed a Controls Corporation timer, the timer motor is the same once that’s on the parts timer and the timer that my Whirlpool has. According to qsd-dan, he mentioned he was once given a Maytag A702 in turquoise to restore, had a Controls Corporation timer motor that was acting up while putting it through it’s paces, eventually put a Mallory timer in.

Maytag did use Controls Corporation timers for a brief timer in the 60’s on a few models, but quickly went back to the Mallory timers probably because of issues they had with them.

If my Whirlpool used a Mallory timer, would probably still be working without a problem.

John had it.... It is indeed a Mallory timer! See the pics....

Shaun was referring to the Maytag washing machine timer (A700), while Ben was referring to the dryer timer. I'll have to check the dryer timer tomorrow as it's packed away. Sorry for any confusion.

Controls Corporation made timers for the 302/502/702 washers in addition to Kingston and Mallory. CC timers were the only option for the 642/742/701 dryers.

I restored a TA702 10 years ago that had a CC timer. After the full restoration, I traded out the HA806 and put the TA702 into daily service for 1 month looking for leaks and making adjustments. Leaks on the NOS 3 coil water valve eventually reared its ugly head but the problem was resolved. Another issue after a couple of weeks of use is that the timer motor started getting sluggish to move, eventually taking a couple of minutes. Thankfully, I had a few NOS 702 Kingston timers on hand and switched them out. As seen in the chart, there was never a replacement timer motor for these. I pondered drilling a small hole in the timer motor housing and injecting some turbine oil and rotating the unit around or several minutes to get the gears moving again (assuming they were metal gears) but didn't want to risk having issues down the line.

I had a similar issue with a 203182 Mallory timer motor in my '67 806. It quit advancing out of nowhere due to the old grease. The timer motor in those can be disassembled, cleaned, and re-greased which I performed and got the timer motor working again. The CC timer could not be disassembled as it's a totally sealed unit and no replacement timer motor available even when new. I was not impressed at all with the timer.

Updates

Hi everyone. First, my apologies to those who requested items. Work has been seriously busy these past couple of weeks and I haven't had much free time at home. I have replied to everyone who reached out on specific parts. These items have been spoken for:

The agitator shaft & spin tube

The dispenser assembly

The Maytag disc lint filters

The 642C dryer parts (all)

The DE808 parts (all)

The remaining items are still available. Dan, would you still like the KD18 wiring harness & A700 timer?
