Dear friends,

My beloved cat, LJ, is very sick, and is at the vet's this minute. Something is wrong with his lungs, and they are full of fluid.

The vet could not give me a very good prognosis. They are going to puncture and drain, and wait and see.

I adopted him as an adult in 1999. We have been through so much...Ma's death, two moves, my own health battles....

I don't know. When you say them, if you say them, please say one for us. If you don't say them, please keep a good thought for us.

Won't be on line a lot- it's dialup. I will check email every few hours, though.

Much love,

Lawrence/Maytagbear.

Re: My Prayers and Thoughts:

Are certainly out to you and for you Lawrence. I've got my almost {March 17th/St Patrick's Day} 11-year old Calico, Speedee. She is my Daughter and would be dearly missed by me of the same as loosing a Child.

Please know that we all are going to be supportive in our own ways, as we all are for everyone else in trying times.

Peace, Love of Friendship and Hugs, Steve

With you!

Right here with you my AW buddy. I lost my beloved Beijing in November....never easy.....He truly was part of my family and my precious little angel.
Keep the faith.

More--

The vet's office just called about 20 minutes ago.

They drained 300 cc's of fluid from his lungs, and he's breating more easily.

LJ is a large orange and white tabby. He was a stray when he came to the shelter.

He is missing his right front leg, and is presumed to have lost it in a leghold trap. When he is feeling good, he runs, he flies...like the essentially normal cat he is.

One of the most distinctive aspects of this very loving guy is his purr. Loud and distinctive. It has been said that his purr is to cats what the late Barry White was to men. On the phone, people have asked me if I keep Doves (the bird, not the detergent.)

If I had a digitised pic, I would put it in.

Thank You so much for your best wises and gentle thoughts.

Love again,

Lawrence/Maytagbear

Lawrence,

I'm so glad to hear that he is breathing more easily and that your puss is getting better. I don't own a cat, but I have a dog and I have to say that animals make better friends in some ways than any human ever could do.

Take care, you and your moggy are in my thoughts,

Jon

Good for you for adopting a special cat!
I am sure the love given and received is very intense.

When I was a student in the Bronx (read: poor, ethnic area)
I saw the sweetest cat in a bodega- (ethnic small local store think 7/11). Blind in both eyes from cigarette burns.

When I heard this I had to go oustide and nearly hurled. Actaully I am still right now choking up. I wanted to scoop that cat up and take her home. But the store was her adopted home.

I am extremely happy that you took in a cat that may not have otherwise been loved as much as you loved him.

Wishing you peace.

Fondest and warmest regards,
-Steve

Cats are babies, pure and simple. We love our cats as they are some of our best friends. Will keep you in my thoughts for your beloved pal and say a prayer as I pet my three cats here.

I hope it all works out for the best Lawrence.
It is so hard to loose a sprit that loves you like no one else will, ever.
Just spend time loving on him when you get him back.
He will let you know when the time comes.
Sorry you are going through such an emotional time right now.
Situations like this really sneek up on you some times.
I have always wished that the animals that are loved, that their "clocks" would change, and they would age like us. And be with us for all of our lives.
I am sorry that you are going through a hard time like this right now.
Take care.
Brent

I'm sorry too

Hi Lawrence, I hope all is going well with LJ. I know how attached we get to our pets and my best thoughts are with you. I hope he gets well soon.
Regards,

Eddy & Clawdia (my cat)

As another cat lover on Applianceville, I know how we form a strong bond with our feline companions. If something happened to any of our cats I'd be devastated. I hope LJ gets better and will keep you both in my prayers.

Lawrence please know that you are both in my thoughts!! He sounds like a very special friend! Terry

Thank you all, again

I need to go to bed soon. It is around 1:11 am here in Ohio, but this is the first night in many, many nights when LJ won't be beside me in bed.

If I didn't have an important, early appointment later today, I'd stay up till sleep overtakes me, but no such luck tonight.

Love, but not much laughter,

Lawrence/Maytagbear

Hoping for good health for LJ; He's lucky to have you in his life! I'm sure you've made the last 7 years his best. Few things show a person's true character more than how they treat animals. Be strong and know we're all thinking of you.

My sincere consolation goes to you from one who has had and lost several pets. I have three dogs, one cat, and an aquarium with seven fish, and to be honest, I get so attatched that I can hardly bear losing one of the fish, let alone anything else. I certainly hope for the best for you and your pet.

Ugh-bad news

Lawrence-I haven't been "on-board" in quite a while and now see that LJ is doing poorly. I am so sorry to hear about this. I do hope he pulls through. It is so hard to lose our beloved pets.

Our Kittyboy is doing well although we have had him for nearly 14 years and he was full grown when we got him. Knowing that he will not be with us forever prompted us to adopt a new little kitten at Christmas. Little Bruno is an orange tabby and was very young (@ 5 weeks) when we got him. Having Bruno has prompted the ol' Kittyboy to be more active as they play (and sometimes fight) a lot. The bad thing about a new kitten is that 1 mjxiozriohg hj,rftkluu;llrtz very difficult to work on a keyboard with one around. I figure that with another cat around, when Kittyboy does finally go to kitty heaven, it would not be as hard on us. When we had to put our Butterscotch down in ?92, the house was so damn empty I could hardly stand it. I couldn?t get to the humane society fast enough.

Dennis, Kittyboy, Bruno and I send our best wishes to you and LJ.
David

Update-

One of the phone ladies at the vet's said that he was resting comfortably, on IV fluids, and has used the litter box.

The particular vet (multi doctor practise) was in surgery, and won't be free for a while, but will phone as soon as she can.

Cautious optimisim.

The important appointment was in Ravenna, the county seat. I do not love Ravenna, nor going to Ravenna.

The best aspect of Ravenna is the two used appliance stores. Didn't take the time, though it would have been nice. Maybe next week.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You.

Much love,

Lawrence/Maytagbear

Lawrence, hope LJ is holding his own and heading toward the better.

Granny had two cats (brothers, Calvin & Shorty) for years. She fussed often about "those damn cats" but she missed them when they were gone. They were her "boys."

Lawrence..i too understand what you are going through. I have had 2 dogs who lived out full lives, cats in the past, my beloved ferret and now i currently have a kitty who is practically attatched to me. I love my little girl to death.

I hope all will turn out well. LJ sounds like he has a terrific daddy. :-)
