I helped my sister move today. The old people in the home left a disconnected washer in the corner. It says GE Filterflow, and it is white. It seems to pre-date anything in the Collections or Museam Filterflow archives in the look of the control panel. Specifically, the timer dial thing is in the center and there are orange rather large, but square (cube like), not flat, toggle switches to the right side. Oh, and one of the switches says sudsaver. Anyone have any idea how old? I am thinking 1952 or 1955.

I'll try to take some pictures. It needs a paint job(white) and has the stainless or chrome kick plate or access panel in front.
It could be cool restored, not sure if I want to take it on.

Selling?

Interested in selling this piece? I would be interested. 'm a little heavy on the dryers and need to counterbalance with a washer or two:)

Somebody grab it! It sounds cool! I love the early models. They are so rare. It would be a waste if nobody saved it.

1955

The very first filter-flo washer came out in 1955. Once we see a picture it will be easier to determine which model this is. Very nice find! This center dial GE FF was made for a few years.

I would say it was newer than that. One center dial and 5 Toggles(tm) switches to the right, a little more angular in the cabinet design.
Robert is right, a picture will tell all. Tap..tap..tap..hurry up sister Nancy and send it!!

Maybe like this?

Sounds very similar to this - 1957 was the only year that I know of in which GE used the aluminum panels on the lower portion of the cabinets - also has the pink, cubic switches on the right side of the console.

Pull-to-Start,
Very, very close in my recollection, although I don't remember the "raised" sheer look" dashboard.(control panel) but the buttons placement of your dryer are right on, but the dial on the washing machine was in the middle I believe. Also, the aluminum panel was less square, sort of curved in from the edges, a little more 50's looking. Now I am guessing 1955, or 1956. 1957 designs got more angular and modern. Can't wait for the pictures. Hurry Nancy, Hurry! If she doesn't I am giving everyone in this thread her cell phone number!

In 1955 GE introduced the WA-750M with a new Filter-Flo washing system. No description of washer control panel, but the matching dryer, DA-623M, has been styled to match the modern asymetrical design of GE's autonmatic washer. Automatic push button controls give simpler operation and permit the selection of the proper drying temperature..high for cottons and low for silks and synthetics. In addition,a special Sprinkle pushbutton permits automatic sprinkling with GE's new clothes sprinkler.

pulltostart wins the prize! It is the exact matching washer to the dryer he has. I does not have a center dial as I originally thought(musta had the crack pipe out again)and it does have the GE's answer to the Sheer Look raised panel.

Clarification

I need to clarify my earlier post (with the photo) - that is NOT my washer. That baby belongs to Unimatic and I pulled that pic from the "Museum" wing of this website. Sorry for the mix-up!

You mean it's not your dryer? Thanks for the clarification. The photo was inspiration. I will have to look for the chrome peice on the front,I am sure it is somewhere. Today I am going to go over and plug her in to see what happens. She only has a two prong plug on her, no ground.

This two family flat has amazing appliances. 2 Chambers 1930' gas ranges, another Tappan "Holiday" gas range with light up control panel. There is a mid 60's Whirlpool washer and two matching Maytag washer and dryers (80's, two speed).
