I was wondering if perhaps the Maytag gurus here could help identify an old Maytag automatic washer I had in the '80's. I got it used around 1980. Unfortunately I gave it away in 1985 when I moved to a new house.
Description: All white, with single dial in the middle. The contours of the machine were rounded - not square as in the A606. As I recall, the sides of the machine were rounded, as well as the corners on control panel.
While I had it, the motor broke down, but replacing it was very easy, just tilted the machine back, unbolted the old motor, bolted in the new motor. I kept it in the detached garage where it only had cold water supply. The washing wasn't all that great but it still beat the laundromat. After a while it started putting gray/brown spots on whites. I figured it had a tranny leak, but perhaps it was just mold.
My next house had a Whirlpool Belt Drive (circa 1983) and at the time I didn't want to store the Maytag, so it went to charity. But I haven't seen another one since.
Any ideas? Any photos?
