Okand M safety valve..

If it was set up for propane, you push and hold the button, light the pilot...hold for about 30 seconds.....If its a natural gas model, you light the pilot, wait 30 seconds, thenpress and release the red button.

.....""If its a natural gas model, you light the pilot, wait 30 seconds, thenpress and release the red button.""

MAKES LITTLE SENSE? DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH THE MAGNET? IF YOU'RE CORRECT IT MIGHT BE OK....

Yeah, I don't get the purpose of the red button if you can light the pilot without it.

Here's the link for the vintage stove place my sister uses.  I don't know what their prices are like, but they likely have whatever part you might need.

THINK I GET IT?

For propane you dont want the pilot on always and would have to light pilot each time. With the Natural gas the pilot can remain lit and just push the safety valve to light. if pilot goes out would cause main gas not to flow. something like that?
Am I close?

OK !!! I'm back :)

I've had a bad cold last two weeks so didn't talk to the neighbor with the stove but saw him today getting ready for a yard sale. I asked if he sold the range and no, so asked for a offer, told him I can't pay more than $200 esp because of the safety switch being around $200 rebuilt, at least thats what my search brought up? He said ok to $200 and I gave a deposit of $50, so guess its bagged.

I tried to move it but was stuck to floor , the back tilted forward a bit. I still wonder its weight cause think i'll need help getting it up on the truck bed of the Toyota, plus its a 4x4 making it higher:( No one seems to know a 35" OM approx weight? I dont know what else other than the cast iron burner tops I can remove to be lighter...

I'll post a pic as soon as its home but one thing I noticed was the two clock faces, the right one looks like a clock and timer or I 'm not sure, the left one just has a printed paper behind the lens? I guess the two white things on top are the salt & pepper shakers. Untill its all cleaned up going to leave it outside on the open patio and cover from weather. It looks pretty greasy on those trays and top surface. Fun begins...

It sounds fairly complete if it still has the salt and pepper shakers.

The paper behind the extra lens may be taking the place of either an oven/minute timer or some similar device.   Usually those paper inserts have temperature guides or other handy information printed on them.

I have no idea about the stove's weight, but you have the right idea about removing as much as you can from it before you attempt to lift it into the truck.

I'm pretty sure I know the cold that had you down.  I caught it just after Xmas, no cold remedies helped, it included a recurring fever and ear infection, and it wouldn't let go even after a course of antibiotics.  It ended up triggering a respiratory infection along with asthma, and it wasn't until after a specialist put me on ten days of Prednisone (my first experience on that) in late January that I was back to normal.

Ralph I think its going to take 3 of use to get it in the truck bed:( after removing the cast iron parts it was still very heavy. Well built for sure, a solid range. I did notice one chip on the bottom left corner, maybe 5/8 inch but thats a easy fix. Nice amount of grease I had to clean for moving. Ready for moving tomorrow, I paid the balance and got a receipt. With dolly strapped on was still hard to lift up. Oh Shiet, Forgot to look in the oven for another cast iron gas thingy, boy those are really heavy. I was wondering , theres only 1 rack in the oven. is this normal??? I'm glad I bought it though I wish it were a 38", good enough for what I paid for sure though. Pics should be comming soon,:)

Yep this cold has been going on for awhile, maybe two months and with bad caughs so started taking anti-biotics yesterday, if it doesnt get better I'll ask the doc at the va about Prednisone, thanks for that.

Its still in patio?

OK, I picked up the 35" range like Davids in #13 above. Its on the open patio outside covered but wondering till I get the kitchen squared away are the Chrome looking ends of the door handels Stainless or chrome. I know stainless can be magnetic thats why i'm asking:)

Thats a Heavy son of a Bit($. 1 guy in the truck and me and another lifting it up, and thats with all the loose stuff off including burners.

Anyone know whats the purpose of the 2 top burner grats with a solid flat surface?

Any thoughts, Tx, Bill

Bill,

I'm not sure about the handle trim being chrome or stainless, but I'm pretty sure the grates with the flat surface are designed to diffuse the heat for simmering, and as the saying goes, are supposed to be positioned over the back burners.
