Look at the shine on that oven porcelain!

Beautiful range in excellent shape and reasonably priced. I hope someone who appreciates it will get it so that it does not go to an ignominious end in a dwelling where it will not be appreciated for anything other than that it gets hot and can bake pizzas.

This looks like a nice range and very near me. I really don't have the money or space right now but I hate to let something like this slip away.

Sandy,

What do you think of this range, if you can advise?

Or anyone else?[this post was last edited: 4/28/2014-20:13]

Bump

Could anyone please tell me if they know anything about this range - it's strengths or weaknesses? Does it have plug- in burners or hard wired? Recommendations - anything? I noticed the porcelain is a bit worn on the top, but I'm not sure if it's too bad to live with. What would oven cleaning be like on this unit? Do the elements come out?[this post was last edited: 4/29/2014-23:47]

Thanks, Greg. So the rotisserie rod lays in that "v" shape on the top rack and plugs into the back of the oven to turn? I wonder where I would go about finding that thermo control? Any ideas, anyone?

Are the oven elements permanently fixed in the oven or removable? And the burners? Hard wired or plug in?

The surface units and the oven elements are hard wired. GE found that less troublesome than plug in units. There is no reason to prefer one over the other except that with hard wired elements, you don't have troubles with the contacts and receptacles arcing or shorting. The bake unit in the oven would be a Tilt-Lock type so that it can be lifted for cleaning and will stay up off the oven floor, out of the way.

If the Automatic Calrod was converted to an infinite switch, so much the better. It gives you some flexibility for the rare times when you need a "between heats" heat like with some pressure cookers and fewer chances for problems.

There is no reason to be worried about the quality of this range. GE was a little lean on oven insulation, but the performance and durability of this range would be very hard to beat. It has been gently used and well cared for.

The broil element in the oven is removable. It and its reflector plug into the rear of the oven and can be taken out for cleaning. The tilt-lock burners are fine, the best part of these is the fact that the trim rings are separate from the elements - MUCH easier to clean that way.

Cool GE Range

We have the same range in great condition Brain and it needs a new home. The surface elements have the chrome trim rings permanently attached to the elements on this range.

Ours still has an intact sensor system on the LF element and we have the rotisserie parts also.
