During Steve Bisso's visit, we were listening her music. He played a hilarious song about a woman who returned home only to find another woman's shoes, coat, etc. where hers should be. The guy came up with all kinds of excuses...it was the preacher's "fur" coat...Her music took you back to the 50's blues lounge scene.

I am so glad that she had such a great comeback! I loved her in Hairspray! I think that this really made fans seek out her older recordings.
There was an article that I read years ago that she talked about her tough times as a cleaning lady. She said that she would be on her hands and knees waxing floors in the kitchens of wealthy homes, and the women would be having cocktail hour, playing cards, and playing her records, not even knowing it was Ruth Brown cleaning their home at the time.
She was a great gal!
