Great restoration Dick! Love the video too. Glad that you got this baby finished and up and running, and looking new and minty fresh.
I just LOVE the 1950's Kenmores! They are just too awesome!!

Remember... I have it's evil twin lurking in the Mid-Worst! <:

Thanks Dick for your neat video - I'd never seen a '58 Kenmore in action with all it's bells'n'whistles. Definately one nice machine, well done on the restoration. It looks like it can wash too!
Thanks again,
sheerlookhomes.

Great lookin machine Dick! You should be very proud..May I ask how long it took you to restore? was it hard to find the necessary parts?

Thanks!

Dick, fantastic video and an awesome job on the restoration; I remember when you acquired the Cycla-Fabric a couple of years ago. It really looks showroom new, and sounds very quiet to boot...I bet the pictures and video don't do it the slightest bit of justice. Thanks for sharing!

Sudsamatic

I see the sudsamatic switch. If I flip it, does that mean you'll return. It was great to see you this fall, here in Seattle. I plan on going to the Tuscon wash in so we'll get to visit there.
The 56 looks great! I love the watching the K on the pregnant Roto-Swirl go back and forth.
Kelly

Dick thanks again. Truely a spectacular, momentuous occassion. I thnk it's quite uncanny just how strong the resemblence is to Robers 1957 ??? LK, the first LK on the market. I guess Sears had the continuous looking control panels even then--the frog-eyed ones and this panel for the most TOL section.

Remember.

Thank You for this video, this was the same washer we had when I was young. I can remember getting a stool to climb up
and watch it wash. The only thing missing was my mother's vioce ( leave that machine alone before you get hurt)
Thank's Again.

Thanks for the video. O love kenmores from the mid 50's to early 60's. The two 15 second spray rinses are great. Does the 56 have a spray rinse during the final spin?

Les

Yes, Rick I know it's twin is about ready to hit the spotlight and dazzle all of us. I can't wait to see pictures. Yes, and I also love the Kenmores of the 50s. Did 5 loads in the 53 yesterday. Fabulous.

To answer your question sudsdudeshane- It took me way too long to do the restore because I had never worked on a machine before and didn't have the confidence. When I finally got my hands on a donor machine and started taking it apart, I became more comfortable and things went much faster then. All in all, I brought the machine home in July 04 and on May 13th of this year, it washed its first load.

Some parts were easy to find, other a bit harder but thanks to members of the club, everything came together.

And yes Kelly, if you flip the switch I just might return. ((--:: And it was great seeing you.

Lesto-the 56 has another looong spray rinse after the rinse cycle. I sometimes move the timer one notch to override it as it starts in before the machine has a chance to get up to spin thus holding the spin speed down.

And to all of you who took the time to post a nice comment, thank you-they're very much appreciated. . They help to make me feel that I've done a good job.

And a very happy and wonderful Thanksgiving to each and everyone.

Dick_S.
